Goodbye Stu...

Stuart Brown was our brother, our colleague and our friend. As one of the many unsung volunteers and collaborators who
help CTMI in the Media Department, he was involved in most of our recent publications – newsletters, magazine articles, copywriting for adverts, website, reviewing and rewriting. He was someone we could count on to fulfill his responsibilities. We are grateful to have known him for these 3 short years. He has enriched our lives and our work. In every circumstance, Stu always had ‘le mot juste’.

Stuart died of cancer in August. His life was a testimony to many, believers and unbelievers alike… During his illness, we were all able to witness the depth of his faith and just how truly he had surrendered his life to Christ. Our hearts and our sympathy are with his wife Louise, as well as with his family. We will miss his wit, his wonderful vocabulary, and the intensity with which he served His Lord and Master!

Gospel is Gaining Ground!

At this year’s International Conference, delegates will hear of a number of new developments in getting the preaching of the message of the cross onto
new and different media platforms.

In an interview, Gilbert Grant gives CTMI Today some insight into what the Media Department is currently involved in…

• Other than the website and CTMI Today, what other means are you using to spread the preaching of the cross?

Today, 7 years after our first TV broadcast on TBN Africa, and 5 years since starting on Radio in Bujumbura, CTMI’s programs can be seen or heard in more than 45 countries across Africa, including Mauritius and the Indian Ocean Islands. We’ve even received feedback from someone watching Adonai BN channel in Yemen! Without a doubt, it is these 2 platforms that are increasingly reaching believers everywhere. We’ve also realised that a message recorded for TV can in fact become an article in JOY! Magazine. What is interesting is that it can also be used as the basis for a booklet or brochure to be distributed at Leaders’ Conferences.

• Would it be fair to say that reaching our ‘audience’ in Africa is quite different to reaching people in France?

Yes, as none of us has any real media or mass communications background, we’ve had to learn in the field, asking questions wherever we go, and researching. Today, we are aware that we must find appropriate ways to reach a faithful CTMI Partner in Bukavu, as well as someone in Paris. Radio works well for the former, while the latter can receive last Sunday’s message from Mauritius, directly on his computer via our Podcast service.

• So what are you doing exactly in order to achieve this?

As a result of Audrey’s vision many years ago to begin recording all of Miki’s preaching at conferences and seminars, today we have a vast library of messages only ever heard by a tiny group of people at each particular event. Now, we are busy editing these messages to use on both TV and Radio everywhere. I recently reviewed a series in English, with Swahili interpretation, recorded in Nairobi in 2004, where Miki, Peter and Stephen shared. I can tell you that seldom have I heard the gospel imparted in such a simple, yet effective way. We cannot allow such revelatory preaching to gather dust in a cupboard; we must do our best to make it available to the widest possible audience! As a start, these messages are now on TV in Burundi, and are being broadcast on a number of stations by Trans World Radio in Kenya and across the region.

• Radio and TV seems to be the way forward for Africa, but what about the more developed countries?

You are absolutely right! It has taken us some time to realise that we had two completely different ‘audiences’; that the means of reaching them are not only different, but are also evolving all the time. For countries with high-speed Internet access, the great success story has been our Free Downloads page on our website. In 2008, the equivalent of 47 000 hour-long messages were downloaded. This has already reached almost 50,000 downloads for the first 9 months of 2009. We’ve seen that visitors download from such places as Argentina, Hong Kong, and the Philippines. Over the next few months, we plan to put online messages on free sermon websites. Our biggest restriction is our ability to upload such heavy bandwidth files from Mauritius at a reasonable speed, but we are working on a solution.

• Tell us about the CD compilations you are offering at the conference…

Previously, each message was only available to purchase on 1 CD, which made it expensive to acquire the full set of 5 or 6 messages for an event like the Durban Family Camp. At this year’s conference, we are offering for sale compilations of messages on 1 CD in MP3 format, from over 20 different events recorded over the past 4-5 years. For example, it’s possible to buy the entire 9-message series “The Church Needs To Know” (over 10 hours of preaching) on 1 CD at a very low price. Even more importantly, this lower price allows us to get the gospel out to many more people. The added advantage is that it will now be possible for each of the Partner Churches to hold 1 master CD of each compilation, as well as messages from all the other events to come, and to duplicate them for resale in their local churches.

Trianon : a journey in time…

Are you ready for a pictorial journey in time? Once upon a time, in Mauritius, there was a small, but determined team surveying a sugar cane field full of stones...
Do you remember?

First, they surveyed the ground, then, foundations were laid - the workers, along with volunteers and workers-in-training, made a fine team. Sisters rallied to work in the grounds, to clean, to help or feed the workers. Week by week we watched the great edifice rising up. On public holidays, the site became a hive of activity! During the final months, the countdown began, and brothers and sisters worked seven days a week, late into the evening, until the long-awaited inauguration date.

Thank you to all of you who have designed, worked, carried, uprooted, planted, watered, cleaned, sanded, chopped, built, demolished, rebuilt, cooked, painted... Thank you for not being afraid to get your hands dirty or breathe dust. Thank you to those who have invested your time and your money, who have prayed and made sacrifices for this building to be erected. Our completed auditorium looks great. We thank God firstly, for the vision of a bigger church that He gave us for His work to be accomplished. This building could have never been finished without miracle upon miracle! To Him, be all the glory!

We have pleasure in presenting this special souvenir T-shirt, (for sale at Rs 150) as a reminder of your support, and of all those times we spent together building our Auditorium.

Youth Camp in Zimbabwe

“Preparing a camp here always requires great miracles and a little bit of ingenuity. For example, for food, we grew our own vegetables, kept chickens; we also
organised various projects to raise funds. Thanks to this, we saved S.A. Rand 50,000! We really needed it, because, even though inflation has stabilised somewhat, we are not sheltered from the world economic crisis.

Upon arrival, what a joy to meet our brothers and sisters from Botswana and South Africa! Pastor Basil O’Connell Jones started preaching on the fact that the Church does not know what sincere conversion is anymore. Some people even invest themselves in the church without being born again! Basil did not make an altar call, but rather, he encouraged us all to examine our own hearts.

During another meeting, Pastor Neil Martin went straight to the point: “A separation must take place when we choose to be in the plan of God. But it is worth it!”

After the preaching, Pastor Richard Langworthy had a word of encouragement from the Lord for those who feel the call of God to serve Him full time.

Pastor Eugene Nyathi summed up so well what we all felt by the end of the camp : “The change the Lord wants to bring in the lives of these young people has started as a seed today”."

Youth Camp in Reunion

The Camp was organised for about one hundred young people in the countryside, near a river. This year, a new concept
: award points were converted into ‘wages’, and nothing was ‘free’ on the camp, to reflect real life!

Every morning, teams established a projected budget, but ‘reality’ was often quite different by the end of the day.

Pastors Lindsay Lajeunesse and Jocelyn Sery both focussed on the Pillars of Wisdom that we should allow the Lord to build in our lives, such as helping out, prayer, respect, reading the Word, generosity, spiritual relationships...

Many young people experienced the joy of being baptised in the Holy Spirit. On Saturday, there was a picnic open to everyone, and parents were able to see the fruits of this camp through testimonies and skits performed by the youth.

Youth Camp in Rodrigues

Everyone was delighted to be back at ‘Batatran School’, late July, in this place so full of memories, for the
3rd Youth Camp. The fifty attendees benefited from the presence of Pastor Louis Mahavande and his wife Gilberte, from La Réunion. These three rich days of spiritual investment encouraged many young people to get their priorities in order.

Church Visit to Cameroon

• April/May 09

“What an incredible opportunity I had to spend 6 weeks in Cameroon with Pastor Boba and Papa Benam. The greater part of my time was spent
in Pastor Boba’s home, in a village just outside Yaoundé. As there was no running water in the house, we had to collect it every morning from a spring to wash clothes and dishes, to shower and to use for drinking. I was so blessed to see Denis Boba’s heart for proclaiming the Gospel, and for helping people. One day he took me to visit some street children. Two weeks later, he had rented a home for 13 of them!

After Yaoundé, I joined up with Papa Benam in Douala. They had a well next door for us to draw water from, which was a real luxury! I had a great time with them, and they took wonderful care of me. Papa Benam shared many stories of his time serving the Lord over the last 50 years. It was fascinating!

When I finally had to leave, I received many gifts, often from people I know had very little – this really challenged me.”

Church Visit to Senegal

A hungry little group in Dakar appealed for greater spiritual investment from CTMI. Pastors Jean-Louis Gaillard and Gérard Doorasamy were sent to
meet them, and this visit was full of adventure! From the start, the two pastors were separated for a lack of places on the plane. Jean-Louis finally met up with Gérard, who was busy meeting with groups of 2 or 3 people continuously from 9 am to 9 pm! The next day, Jean-Louis shared about the need to be born again with those present. At the end, many came forward to receive Jesus as their Saviour.

The two pastors enjoyed an excursion to the island of Gorée, a place with a tragic history, as shown by the Slaves’ House they visited. After three very intense days, Jean-Louis and Gérard were confident that the Christians they met, although only beginning their Christian walk, were very open to the gospel.

Godfrey, one of the members of the group has since decided to establish a Christian centre, with a plan to show DVDs and video teachings from CTMI during their meetings, and to advertise it with posters around the town.

Church Visit to Zimbabwe

There is an affectionate welcome and reunion at Bulawayo Airport, as Miki Hardy, Audrey Hardy, and the team finally arrive after
a 3-year gap in this beautiful country still facing many difficulties. Many have also come from Harare and Malawi for this visit. The 1st evening, Pastor Richard Langworthy gratefully tells of the beginnings of the church at Selborne Park and its spiritual growth under the apostolic ministry. Afterwards, Miki exhorts the congregation to keep sound doctrine, just as Paul encouraged Timothy in his epistles.

The next morning, there is a special meeting for about a hundred pastors who have been watching DVDs from CTMI for some time. Miki testifies to his struggles and victories as a man of God, a husband, and a Christian.

Pastor Levy Masuku closes the meeting saying: “Are you ready to pay the price needed to live the gospel?”

In the last two meetings at the church, Miki shares on faith and repentance, without which a Christian can neither live nor grow. Some, like Pastor Eugene Nyathi, are already asking themselves when they will have another chance for a visit like this!

Leaders’ Conference

Intense preparations keep a small coordinating team very busy before this conference in Durban. Between the
monthly meetings with pastors, visits, interviews and messages - sometimes translated into Zulu - broadcast on radio, the Lord gives us the means to prepare the ground before the gospel is sown in people’s hearts.

Day 1: 150 pastors are welcomed in the campus hall.

Miki Hardy opens by deploring the spiritual state of the Church: “We need to come back to the true gospel!”

Day 2: He shares his experiences, showing the importance of unity within the team of elders. Indeed, the Church belongs to Jesus and to Him alone, not to any pastor!

Day 3: Miki closes by emphasizing that the gospel needs to be alive in our hearts.

Before leaving, one delegate declares: “I know this has changed my way of thinking and that my behaviour as a pastor will be different.”

Family Camp in South Africa

Rain cannot dampen the general enthusiasm upon arrival, for the rumour is that Pastor Marc Labonté is coming; the typical Mauritian surprise we love! Visitors arrive from
Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mauritius, England, the USA, and Harding (South Africa). The nearby beach is ideal for organising family games.

During the meetings, Marc shares on Faith in Jesus. He exhorts the people not to draw back from the call of God. It is each person’s responsibility to exercise his faith to obey the Lord.

On Sunday morning, Pastor Neil Martin explains that we need to be ready to face whatever comes our way by relying on God.

After such an amazing weekend, everyone leaves, determined to take up the challenge of the gospel!

Family Camp in France

This year’s Family Camp took place at Massabielle, near Paris in the full heat of the summer. Over 150 people from families of the partner Churches in
France and England came together.

Pastor Jocelyn Sery came specially from La Réunion to share the gospel, and chose to speak on The Family.

As he put it: “The future of the church is in our homes! Let us keep close watch over the spiritual state of our family.”

Many were deeply touched.

Christina, 16, testified on the last day: “As children we also have a responsibility. I am confident that the Lord is going to change me. And for this, I need my parents.”

On Saturday afternoon, everyone played a game called “head and legs”, involving physical and mental agility, another opportunity to have fun... with the family of course!

On Sunday, after the service, three young people demonstrated their commitment to following the Lord by being baptised. It was a memorable weekend!

Regional Conference in Kenya

Many pastors from East Africa considered this Regional Leaders Conference last August in Nairobi an appointment not to be missed!
Pastor Marc Labonté was the main speaker.

Seven countries were represented: Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Mauritius. One could feel enthusiasm from everyone, in spite of the severe drought in the country. Fortunately, the organising church, Harvesters Christian Centre, managed to get fresh supplies of water daily.

The main theme of Marc’s preaching was Having the Fear of God. Indeed, when we do not have the fear of God, nothing stops us from falling into sin. That is what happened to Cain when he killed Abel. The fear of God is our protection, it is the beginning of wisdom! (Proverbs 9:10).

On the last day, pastors, often accompanied by their wives, testified to the work of the Lord in their lives, adding:

“Let my wife vouch for the truthfulness of what I’m saying!” Pastor John Njuguna Kangeme from Kenya declared: “I have been deeply confronted by the gospel, especially when Marc spoke about humility. Now, my prayer is to live out this gospel as a daily lifestyle.”

A word from the Editor

Dear Friends and Partners,

Every 3-4 months, when we sit down to plan the contents and layout of the next issue of CTMI Today, we always face a dilemma. We know that
many of the readers of this newsletter do not have regular access to the Internet, and this is often their sole means of contact with the ministry. We are therefore always torn between writing longer reports about fewer events across the Network, and giving just a brief outline on as many ‘happenings’ as possible.

This time, we have decided to do both!

We hope that you will enjoy the four extra pages in this special issue. This allows us to bring you a more detailed photo report on the new Auditorium at Trianon; as well as a few testimonies about changed lives from some amazing young people who have visited Mauritius over the past few years.

By the time this issue is published, we will have inaugurated the new CTMI Auditorium, and will be holding our International Conference. To all of you who have prayed for us and supported us during these past 3 years of building, Miki and I, as well as all the CTMI team, join hands in saying a very big and heartfelt THANK YOU!

Q & A with Audrey Hardy

Many of our readers will have seen or met Audrey Hardy either in Mauritius or at an overseas conference. In the second and final excerpt from
an interview recorded last April with Benjamin Holl of Radio Bonne Nouvelle in Douala, Cameroon, she speaks of CTMI’s privileged links with Africa and the construction of the new Auditorium at Trianon.

How would you define CTMI’s relationship with Africa?

We consider it a privilege to serve the Lord here in Africa. We are very much aware that not everyone is ready to do that. For us, serving the Lord is not just coming to preach and then leaving. It’s about building relationships, being concerned about the lives of our brothers and sisters, and keeping in touch with them. We may leave, but we return to see the Lord’s Church taking root and growing on a solid foundation; not the foundation of a gospel that promises blessings, but a gospel that challenges us and allows God to work in the lives of His people. Of course, we work in other parts of the world, but Africa has a special place in our hearts. We don’t come here to stay in 5-star hotels, or live in luxury homes, but to live as the people do here. We never allow what can sometimes be difficult circumstances to stop us… Travelling in Africa is really not easy; everything is complicated and expensive… But, we firmly believe that this is where the Lord has called us to be. We see it as His grace and we want to answer that call.

CTMI is building a large auditorium in Trianon, Mauritius. How does it feel to be involved in such a massive project?

Well, it’s extremely encouraging, especially when we recall where we began in 1982. That building was a mess… when it rained, rain fell just as much inside as on the outside, and we didn’t have the means for anything better. We used to say to each other: “God will surely use rich Christians from other countries to help us build something better.”

But, in the end, the Lord showed us that He would use the believers from our own churches; us, with our own limited means! Of course, it didn’t happen overnight. We began by renting something a bit more acceptable, and then we bought a small plot of ground and trusted the Lord. Our Mauritian brothers and sisters made sacrifices and gave financially, then our CTMI Partner Churches gave us fantastic support, and we were able to build the church building in Curepipe. It’s been a long road for us. We’ve always had to work with very little and take one step at a time to accomplish what the Lord was showing us.

How have you financed the construction of the Trianon Auditorium?

It was a massive step of faith when the Lord laid it on our hearts to buy this piece of land, because there was no money for it. So, we spoke about it to the church, something that we deem very important. When we present a new project to God’s people, we let everyone know how much it will cost; and when we have received money in support, we are able to say afterwards: “Here is what we have been given, and this is what we have done with the funds.” We find it scandalous to see ministries appealing for funds, without specifying how much they are looking for, what they have received, and what was done with the donations received. We believe that it is right to be accountable to God’s people. The result is that trust is established and people have no problem in giving. Hence, we were able to buy the land.

But when we saw the construction costs, we really thought that it would never be possible. Yet this vision was so clear for Miki, that we decided to go ahead with this undertaking by faith. Funds were soon required and each time the money ran out, the Lord came through with the provision… a brother sold something and came to give a part of the proceeds; another received an inheritance and came to share it with us; this went on for 2 years. We are now getting to the end of the building works and the Lord has provided for practically everything. Even today, people are still ready to give! We also know that it isn’t for us that we have built this auditorium, but for His plan and His work, until He returns.

What is the vision behind this Auditorium project?

Firstly, in Curepipe we have simply run out of space, whether for our annual International Conference, or the monthly meetings when all the local churches come together. It therefore became urgent to move to something bigger… More importantly, we are convinced this will be a strategic location from which the Lord will spread His Gospel and touch many lives. From here, we will continue reaching out to many nations. I often smile when I see the Lord using Mauritius, this little drop in the Indian Ocean, as a platform to proclaim the Good News to the world. God really does use the foolish things of this world for His own purposes. What a privilege to have a part in that!

• Good News for Africa

An audio CD with 36 messages of 30-minutes in MP3 format was compiled to distribute to radio stations. Beginning in South Africa, the first series of Good News for Africa has opened doors to some very large Christian media outlets including Trans-World Radio (TWR). A second English compilation is being put together while the Radio team in Curepipe is working on French, Swahili, and Portuguese versions.

• Radio Bonne Nouvelle – Douala Cameroon

RBN broadcasts CTMI messages in French, English as well bilingual French/English 3 times a week. Benjamin and Elodie Holl have always taken every opportunity to promote the ministry of CTMI in Cameroon and we are so grateful for this support. Resulting from interviews recorded during the recent meetings in Yaoundé, Benjamin is putting together a special program featuring Marc Labonté, Audrey Hardy, Mary Pierce and Dan Malan.

• Trans-World Radio – Kenya

The first Good News for Africa is already being broadcast on two FM stations in Northern Kenya. Even more exciting, TWR will soon be broadcasting messages in English and Swahili, recorded at CTMI’s annual Regional Conferences in Nairobi, on another 3 FM stations and a number of local partner stations. These will also go out via satellite to other TWR stations in the region. More details in the next issue…

• Radio Igagasi – Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa

In order to reach out to local pastors prior to the Leaders’ Conference in Durban next August, 4 messages by Miki Hardy are currently being dubbed for broadcast into Zulu. In April, Levy Masuku from Bulawayo gave a live interview on CTMI and its activities. Being a native Ndebele speaker, he was able to communicate in Zulu. We received very positive feedback from the station, which has asked him to return at the time of the conference.

Television

• New Slot on Adonai BN

For the first time, French viewers can tune in to watch a CTMI program on TV! Thanks to the generosity of Adonai’s management, CTMI now has a second slot being broadcast to Africa on Fridays at 15:00 (CAT). The series “The Spirit of Revival” was recorded in English and French at a recent International Conference.

• TV Héritage, Burundi

In late June, CTMI began a weekly program on this Christian TV station in the capital, Bujumbura. This initial series is in English with a Swahili interpretation in order to reach as wide an audience as possible in the local vernacular. CTMI-Burundi also holds a weekly DVD showing at its offices which is open to the public.

• Joy! Magazine - South Africa

The articles by Miki Hardy, who is now acknowledged as a regular contributor to the magazine, continue to draw very positive comments and feedback. Readers are ordering the DVD of the individual messages after reading the articles based on the series “The Church Needs to Know”, which are being featured during this year in JOY! Magazine.

Erin Georgiou, the Editor-in-Chief, commented on a recent article where Miki is interviewed, saying: “We, at JOY! love your articles – they are so in line with our teaching and understanding. Everybody who has read it has raved about his answers; as this letter from a reader testifies: ‘Thank you for publishing this excellent interview about ‘The Church Needs to Know’. I can only praise God for people like Miki Hardy, who still believes there is only one true way, and that is what the Bible says! I pray that JOY! Magazine will carry on publishing the Truth’.”

Last year, the CTMI media team was asked to ensure that the gospel of the cross was made available across every media platform - TV, Radio, Magazines, Internet, etc. We are very excited to report below on some of these developments.

Radio

• Good News for Africa

Youth Camp - England

Neither the hours of driving, nor the ferry crossing, nor even the English weather could stop
22 youth from France from meeting up with their brothers and sisters on the other side of the Channel! With Peter McKenzie in transit between the USA and Mauritius, it was a great time to organise this Youth Camp, even if it was a bit of a last minute affair. Tents were set up in a magnificent park, excellent for outdoor activities, like constructing a raft to transport each team to the other side of the lake in record time, or making an aerial slide suspended between huge trees! In rich times of sharing during Bible studies, Perry McQueen and Peter McKenzie, put much emphasis on the place of the Word of God in our lives, and the importance of being tested by fire. What a fantastic weekend!

Every 6 weeks, the church in Chaville (Paris), gets together with all the groups of Christians and churches with which it has growing links. Here are some
of their stories…

Montargis:

In 2006, disappointed after missing a meeting of pastors, Polydor Luyéyé invited Jean-Louis Gaillard to preach at his church. Since then, he is now part of the CTMI team. In addition to overseeing his church in Montargis, he also takes care of a group of Christians in Gien, who have embraced the gospel of the cross.

Rouen:

In November 2007, while on holiday in Mauritius, Rénald and Dominique M. searched for a church on the Internet. That Sunday in Curepipe, they could hardly believe it... This is what their hearts had been seeking for years! On their return to France, they got in touch with the church in Chaville. Since that time, this couple and the family are persevering in the gospel!

Poitiers:

Jacqueline Lajeunesse came to France in June 2008 to take care of her sick sister. After her death, the whole family was deeply touched by the gospel! Sixteen of them get together every Sunday to watch the messages on DVD. They have remained in contact with the church in Chaville, and were blessed recently by the visit of their uncle Gérard Doorasamy, the elder from Mauritius.

Toulon:

Having heard Stephane M. speaking on the gospel of the cross, Robert and Claudine L. began to meet with this brother to watch DVDs of the sermons. They even came to Mauritius in 2008 to take part in the construction work of new auditorium. Today, a small group meets at their home to pray, share the gospel, and watch the messages.

Sisters’ Conference - Tanzania

At the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro, a group of sisters crowd together in front of the church in Marangu. Many
in number, and determined in their hearts, they have not allowed borders to stop them! 400 women from D. R. Congo, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Burundi, Kenya, and of course Tanzania, as well as a couple from Holland, have made the trip for this conference. Richard Langworthy’s mother-in-law, aged 75, was willing to make the journey from Bulawayo, and her determination is a real challenge to everyone.

Stephen Gachengo opens the meetings by encouraging the sisters to be vessels of honour so that God can use them. Beatrice, his wife, known as Mama Gachengo, the main speaker, shares on a woman’s responsibility, based on Proverbs 14:1, “The wise woman builds her house”. She also explains how, in order to be useful for the kingdom, we need to commit our lives to the apostolic gospel. At the end of the conference, the ladies make an appointment to meet again in 2010 in Kenya.

Camp for the Elderly - Mauritius

Last March, 100 elderly brothers and sisters gathered at Belle-Mare, on the east coast of the Island. Powerful messages, rich fellowship, games, and
times of relaxation; all adding together to make this camp an unforgettable time…

The Gospel:

‘Love your family, take care of them,’ was the theme of this camp, and many lives were touched... Using the example of Joseph, Michel Niéva showed how, in our families, we need to pay more attention to those who don’t know the Lord; for those who are saved are already in the hands of the Lord. Jesus has saved us in order to be a door for the salvation of our family. But often, we are too busy to realise that this is our main responsibility.

The Activities:

Daily times of sharing at the workshops greatly blessed all those present. The youth from Etincelles, the theatre group, spent a day at the camp. They joined everyone for lunch, organised games, presented sketches... It’s difficult to say who was blessed more, the youth or the elderly!

Hearts Restored:

Sunday service was a time of repentance and restoration for many. The family: this is an area where the Lord wants to reveal His heart to each one of us!

Church Visit - Basil O’Connell-Jones in Zimbabwe

The few cars still able to drive on the roads in Selborne Park Christian Church’s car park, and a hall full of believers hungry to
hear the gospel, testify to the incredible spiritual growth of this church. It seems as if the more conditions worsen – shortages of petrol, food, water, electricity – the more the church grows in numbers and maturity.

During the first week in Bulawayo, Basil and his team’s program was very full, with leaders’ meetings, seminars... 600 youngsters, full of zeal, attended the youth meeting! The second week, in Harare, the team continued, undeterred by power cuts. Basil shared that no one is safe from backsliding, for, as the Bible says, “The heart is wicked above all things.” The ground was very favourable for the gospel, and local Christians responded without hesitating. They are more determined than ever to remain alert and to finish the race!

Church Visit - Ruben Ramsawmy in The Seychelles

After 2 years back in Mauritius, the return of Ruben Ramsawmy to the church he served for 8 years in The Seychelles promised to be
quite an event! During his 6-week visit, Ruben was led by the Lord in a very intense program of activities; but he declared that, by God’s grace, he did not experience any tiredness.

He began by meeting leaders in Mahé, as well as encouraging God’s people during meetings and visits. The theme of the seminar during the second week was: ‘Keeping the pure doctrine of the Gospel’; warning against the influence of the world in the church. He particularly focused on the youth, who are often susceptible to outside influences. Thereafter (accompanied by 20 very excited youngsters), he made his way to the magnificent island of Praslin. The visit was a breath of fresh air for Hudson and Farida who take care of this small church, and everyone really appreciated the fellowship and the seminar. Ruben spoke on the importance of ‘Watching and praying, so as not to fall into temptation.’ Everyone was deeply touched by the message, and many couples and young people came forward for prayer.

A 15-minute boat ride, and the team arrived at La Digue where the congregation, which started in August 2005 with 6 people, were waiting eagerly. Here, Ruben spoke of the amazing change that takes place when we become a new creation.

On his return to Mahé, having extended his visit by 2 weeks, Ruben held a final seminar on: ‘The grace of God.’ Today, he blesses the Lord for His ongoing work in The Seychelles. Jean-Claude and Jacqueline Lajeunesse then arrived to take over and continue to edify this church.

Church Visit - Miki Hardy in France

What a challenge for the church in Chaville to accommodate the 90 visitors expected from all over France and the UK successfully for
this seminar. Finally, as they arrive at the hall, everyone agrees that we have outgrown it!

Miki shared that God brings His people to maturity through experiences such as persecution, correction, the trials of life... the common denominator in all of these being: dying to self.

The visit is marked by an important event for this local church. “Open your Bibles to Titus 2:5” declares Miki. Without even having to read the verses, everyone understands quickly what it’s all about: the appointment of Jean-Charles Lefebvre as an Elder, and Pierre Tshamala as a Deacon!

As Geneviève puts it: “We can all testify to Jean-Charles’ life, and his heart of a shepherd. That’s why the whole church shouted and clapped as if to say, ‘we are totally behind this decision.’ And the same for Pierre becoming a deacon.”

It was also a good opportunity to pray for the various couples serving the Lord in the different parts of France. To round off the meetings, everyone enjoyed a fantastic time of fellowship over lunch.

Church Visit - Miki Hardy in Kenya

The CTMI Network churches in East Africa have been truly blessed this year; and, it’s not over! Firstly
, Jean-Claude Lajeunesse spent a month with the local believers. After which, Miki Hardy joined him in early March, accompanied by Roland La Hausse, who was on his way to Burundi. During a conference at Umoja with the CTMI leaders from Kenya and the neighbouring countries, Miki encouraged the pastors to keep the vision, not to forget the call of God; and to stand firm in the gospel by reminding them of Paul’s instructions to Timothy. Roland shared on true submission to God, and what its implications are for our lives. The next Regional Conference will be held in August in Kenya.

Church Visit - Marc Labonté in Botswana

“Harvest Christian Church in Gaborone was blessed by a 2-week visit from Marc Labonté. We were
greatly encouraged and strengthened by this short visit, to carry on serving the Lord. It was amazing to see how the Lord had prepared us for Marc’s visit, with the many different circumstances each of us was going through.

In the first week, Marc shared about our desperate need for the Lord, and challenged us to lay down and submit our lives continuously to Him. Almost half the church came forward for prayer. Then, he shared on prayer, exhorting us to discipline ourselves to spend time with the Lord in prayer, so that we can come to know His heart and His will for our lives.

During the second week, at 2 special evening meetings, where 6 brothers and sisters from Grace Gospel Church in Durban were present, he shared on being obedient to the Lord… The good news is that the Lord’s grace is there for us, and He works in us so that we can obey Him, even though our flesh never wants to.”

Leaders' Conference - Cameroon

With so many complications, the organisation of this missionary visit became quite a saga! But, in the end
, the Lord overturned every obstacle – ticket prices, seats embargo, visas – so that the team could get to Yaoundé. Truly, nothing stands in the way of God’s plan being accomplished.

Leaders from two different churches, Denis Boba and Papa Binam came together to organise this conference for about 100 of their leaders, 50 of whom travelled quite a distance. Papa Binam greeted Miki and Audrey Hardy, Marc Labonté, and the CTMI team at the first meeting with, “The doors of Cameroon are open to you. Welcome!” Miki’s messages tackled different aspects of ‘The life of a servant of God’, and came as a revelation to many... What attitude must the man of God have towards the Gospel, his family, law and grace, finances? Many could not hold back their approval, shouting out, “Revelation!” Everyone was challenged.

Marc took the second part of the meetings, with an audience already deeply touched by Miki’s messages. He shared on how real repentance changes lives! He also emphasised the importance of developing spiritual relationships, like that of David and Jonathan. During a special meeting for the youth, he exhorted them to become vessels of honour, to sanctify themselves; many came forward to repent before God.

Audrey, for her part, encouraged the sisters not just to be satisfied with being saved, but to realise that there is so much more when we identify our lives with Jesus.

For these churches in Cameroon, the foundation has now been laid for leaders to unite through the message of the cross.

Dear Friends and Readers,

In our last issue, Miki mentioned that
with only a few Leaders’ Conferences planned, CTMI’s priority for 2009 would be
spiritual investment in the Partner Churches.

As you read this issue, you can see just how many countries and churches have been visited over the past few months. We’ve wanted to bring you at least a brief report on as many of the visits as possible. I’m sure that you will also be encouraged to see how, by God’s grace, new doors keep opening for the preaching of the message of the cross on TV and Radio.

The biggest item that is on our horizon at the time of writing is of course finishing the auditorium at Trianon in time to hold our International Conference in late October. There remains much work to be done in a very short period of time. We need your prayers and your practical support to see this massive undertaking to completion.

Q & A with Audrey Hardy

Many of our readers will have seen or met Audrey Hardy either in Mauritius or at an overseas conference. To learn a bit more about her and the role she plays at CTMI, here is a first excerpt from
a recent interview with
Benjamin Holl of Radio Bonne Nouvelle in Douala, Cameroon.

• Who is Audrey Hardy?

I was born in Mauritius into a Roman Catholic family. Although I was very involved in the church, I was still looking for something more... At 27, I heard the Gospel for the first time from South African Christians who were living something that I wanted to live. They encouraged me to read the Bible with an open heart, which I did and Jesus revealed himself to me. I then understood the need to repent of my sins, to recognise that Jesus had died on the cross for me, and to accept Jesus as my personal saviour. This turned my life completely upside down. As Miki had also recently gone through the same experience, we were able to grow up together in the Lord.

• How did those around you react?

Our families and friends rejected us; and, from the start we were thrown in the deep end, and found ourselves having to take care of other new born-again believers. So, we had to mature quickly in the Gospel. Two years later, we moved to South Africa to attend Bible School. From there, we felt that the Lord was calling us to return to Mauritius; although it was the last place we wanted to go to!

All the persecution made it very hard... but we said ‘yes’ to the Lord. We were very involved in the Charismatic move, where power, deliverance, intercession were all that mattered...We never imagined that God needed to work in our lives!

• Are you saying that your understanding of the Christian life has evolved?

At that time in our marriage, I found it hard to submit to Miki, and there was much strife between us. According to our understanding, as husband and wife, we were equals in position in the ministry. We shared the pastoral ministry and I made certain decisions on church matters. My relationship with the Elders was less than ideal, in my heart I had very little respect for them. From the outside, the church appeared to be fine. People were being converted, there were healings, deliverance. And yet, there was no peace and believers were not growing as we would have expected. Then, in the early nineties, after 7 years in the ministry, Miki began to understand that if he wanted to see the church change, he needed to be the first to change – the Lord isn’t interested in great sermons, or wonderful performances; He wants a life that brings Him glory, and the chance to mould us into His image.

• So, when you made this ‘U-turn’, what happened exactly?

The Lord began a deep work in Miki’s life, and then it was my turn; he broke me and changed me so that I could take my proper place in our marriage and thereafter in the church. It meant several very difficult years for us. We were well-known Charismatic leaders, and when the Lord led us down a different path, we were cast aside; considered to be some sort of cult... but little by little, we were able to lay a foundation. Everybody found their place; real relationships were built with the Elders. We became a proper team... The Lord brought peace to the church through an amazing work in the hearts of its leaders and the people of God. After this, doors began opening in the Indian Ocean, and later in Africa, to equip men of God to be effective in their work for the Lord.

• What is your role in CTMI?

As the name CTMI indicates, we are first and foremost a team... so with the help of others, I coordinate the administration, oversee the finances, and deal with our correspondence. I approve all the contents of our TV and Radio programmes. I work on CTMI Today and our E-Letters (reports of our missionary visits). As a way of thanking our partners who support the work of CTMI with their finances and in prayer, I take notes during meetings and write reports, a sort of family-newsletter, so that they can get a feel of being present at these events. Miki and the Apostolic Team spread the Gospel, but I am involved in everything that goes with it. From time to time, when the opportunity arises, I take ladies meetings, so as to encourage the sisters in the gospel. I also look after CTMI’s work on social issues; wherever the Lord calls us to help orphans, widows, the poor; I help where I can... We are a small team with small means, but we manage a lot with the little that we have!

Heart Talk changed my life...

“For 11 years, I listened to preaching that taught me new things, insightful things, and made me feel good, inspired and determined to
grow in the Lord; teachings that motivated and taught me how to be a better person. But they did not deal with my heart, and had no power to change my life.

Three years ago, I came into contact with CTMI, and my life has not been the same since. I have been turned upside down and have begun to live something real with the Lord. This is only because of the power of the true Gospel of Jesus Christ – the message of the Cross.

It sounds strange to hear that a Christian needs to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. But it’s true!

I’m so grateful to the Lord for Miki and the CTMI team for bringing the pure Gospel of the Cross of Jesus Christ to my life, through watching ‘Heart-Talk’ on TBN. Like many believers, I was missing a vital component of the truth.

There is a step beyond being born again. Identification with Christ costs me everything, whereas ‘just believing’ costs me nothing. I didn’t know that the purpose of my life was for Christ to be formed in me, rather than simply to be the recipient of God’s blessings in exchange for obedience.

There is a big difference between trying to conform to what you know is right and Christ being formed in you – as big as the difference between flesh and spirit, and law and grace!”

Youth Camp DIARY - Mauritius

Day 1 – What an atmosphere at the church hall! As soon as we arrive at camp, we dive straight into
the essentials: making up of our flag and mascot, vital for each team of course. These represent our Christian identity!

Day 2 – As a team, we got to know each other during the treasure hunt. I also took part in a workshop on our responsibilities in the home. Amazing!

Day 3 – We had a special service today, and each team had an Elder present.

“What are we looking for; to live a double life, or be set free from the world?” – Miki Hardy

Day 4 – Honestly, this treasure hunt was so well organised and, so true to life regarding our spiritual walk. Miki held a special ‘Baptism’ meeting; and tomorrow, some of us, including me, will be baptised!

“During this camp, I saw how we are drawn to many things, without even being aware of it, that become
chains for us. These blind us so completely that we develop habits and begin flirting with the world once again, whilst saying to ourselves that of course we are Christians. Thereafter, we enter into emotional relationships... find a ‘Delilah’, just like Samson, and can no longer see anything clearly. My prayer is to ask the Lord to help me, as I feel very weak when I look at the world. I often forget the price that He paid for me.“ – F. L., La Réunion

“This camp was a wake-up call for many youth, who had stopped guarding their hearts. Not only were they refreshed, but it was also a reminder for them of the realities of the Christian life compared to this world, which surrounds us and wants to swallow us up.” – Jocelyn Séry, Elder.

Youth Camp ORGANISATION - Zimbabwe

Holding this camp required faith and miracles! How about these figures:
in 3 months, as a result of hyperinflation, the registration fee of US$50.00 per person, sky-rocketed from ZW$12 billion to ZW$7 trillion... Multiply that by 420 youth – 300 were sponsored – and you can see how the Lord went over and above our faith with a series of miracles! Even the train taking 620 people to Plumtree had to be taken from a museum yard especially for the event!

The theme: ‘Watering the Seeds of Revival’ reflected the needs of this nation. The Lord’s presence was tangible during powerful preaching by Basil O’Connell-Jones and Jocelyn Séry. The Holy Spirit exposed and dealt with real and tough issues in many young lives. Dozens of youngsters gave their lives to Jesus, while hundreds more rededicated their hearts to Him. “We want to give Him all the glory” declared the 200-strong organising team.

Youth Camp ACTIVITIES - Rodrigues

The camp theme was: “Protect what we have received.” On Day 2, each team
is given an egg, and must make a protective covering for it, which will be severely tested... each one will be thrown down from the roof. Well done to some teams who managed to save their egg!

As for those who don’t follow the rules, their team leaders are ‘fined’. Nothing too severe of course... they must sing or dance, and the audience must score each performance!

On Day 3, each team is told to build their ‘base headquarters’ with materials found in the yard. Inside, they must ‘receive’, ‘protect’, and ‘guard’ some ‘bombs’ (water filled balloons), which represent the gospel. Then each team must try to get hold each other’s bombs, even as they protect their own. Not too easy, all this!

The Camp took place at T. O. Strand, a seaside holiday resort, 200 km from Durban. 300 Christians from
10 countries enjoyed beautiful sea views from the chalets within the sound of the crashing waves.

Miki and Neil shared powerfully on the theme: ‘Our Life’ – which must be like a seed, like a sacrifice, like an offering. Stephen, referring to his own experiences, spoke on the importance of the apostolic ministry.

On Sunday, Neil, together with all the elders prayed for Miki, who felt their support and love, and he received a word from God:

“I will open doors that no man can, for My gospel to be preached...”

Many hearts were touched despite there being no preaching. At the last meeting, a number testified, giving glory to the Lord.

Family Camp - France

The seeds sown in France are finally bearing fruit! They came from
all corners of the country – Strasbourg, Lille, Poitiers, Rouen, Toulon, Lorient, Montargis, as well as
Chaville – a number of families gathered together to hear a powerful gospel!

The 136 brothers and sisters were blessed by the presence of Bernard Banor, accompanied by Pamela, (Mauritius); Louis Mahavande (La Réunion); and, of course Jean Louis Gaillard. Bernard emphasised the restoration of families... we must take the road for our household, in the same way that Noah, the parents of Moses, and Mordechai did.

The 3rd day’s treasure hunt involved searching for lost sheep! The camp ended with baptisms and testimonies; demonstrating just how much the Lord was at work.

Church Visit - Jocelyn Sery, Zimbabwe

The economic crisis in Zimbabwe affects believers in every area of their lives, yet
I saw God’s faithfulness to His children in equipping them through faith.

Everything began at the Youth Camp where the gospel impacted lives well beyond our expectations. The organisation was fantastic, and from beginning to end, God’s glory was manifest.

And, this was not limited to the camp, as we saw for ourselves during seminars in Harare and Bulawayo. In the capital city, we were overjoyed to sow in hearts that were fertile for the gospel. Back in Bulawayo, I shared on the God’s grace and witnessed many brothers and sisters receiving a touch from the Lord. Right up to my last day, I felt so small and so privileged to have seen so much by His hand.

Church Visit - Basil O’Connell Jones, Botswana

Basil travelled to Gaborone to Harvest Christian Church with a team of
six brothers and sisters from Durban. During his time there, he took a series of meetings with the church. People were born again, others were baptised, prayed for and received the Holy Spirit.

At the seminar, Basil shared on how the Christian life can only be lived by grace. Many of us lose the innocent passion we had when we were born again. Through a lack of revelation, we begin to apply techniques to keep going, and end up becoming religious. How wonderful to discover that the Spirit of the Lord is in us and will keep us on the right road, if we will only allow Him to... At each meeting, people came up for prayer and the Lord touched many lives deeply.

The visit ended with a wonderful time of fellowship at a CTMI fundraising lunch.

Church Visit - Peter McKenzie, USA

Peter spent a sunny 3 months in San Diego, accompanied by Jane and Jordan, while
Neil Martin was away in RSA. Peter faced challenges, which included driving on the ‘wrong’ side of the road, and speaking ‘American English’! However, when it came to preaching, it was very evident to this church that, while their anointing may be different, both he and Neil carry and live the same message; and they work as team to see the Church built on the right foundation of the apostolic gospel.

FUNDRAISING: Flea Market, Mauritius

The reputation of our Flea Market in Curepipe continues to draw crowds... before sunrise, a queue of over 200 eager customers had
already formed outside the gates! What can possibly motivate 476 believers, leaders and pastors to wake up at 4:00 am and come to carry boxes, cook, sell, welcome visitors, clean up; in a word, give of themselves totally? The answer: raising funds to support CTMI’s missionary work. And despite the rain, a record amount raised again this year. Well done to everyone!

Leaders Conference, South Africa

The first Leaders Conference in Durban, RSA begins despite strong opposition from
some local pastors. Nonetheless, over 125, mainly African, pastors have turned up, after hearing it advertised on the Zulu Radio, Igagasi. Miki is not deterred...

“What grace,” as he puts it, “when there is such opposition. It means something is happening in the Spirit!”

Over the next 3 mornings, Miki begins with an overview of what is happening in the Church today: “Most churches are much better organised and structured than ever before... yet the conviction present a few years back, has disappeared!” He preaches with passion on the foundation that is the revelation of the cross, yet with such a heart of grace.

“I have never heard the gospel preached so clearly, what a sight to see all of these leaders kneeling in front of the Lord. Do you realise what it represents for them, as pastors, to humble themselves in this manner in another church? It’s only by God’s grace that they could accept the truth, which is sometimes tough to hear, yet without feeling any condemnation.”- K. K.

Regional Leaders Conference in Kenya

“The church was packed to capacity with about 1000 people every evening – 600 visitors had come
from the 5 neighbouring countries of East Africa – ready to hear the voice of God. Miki shared about the need for men of God to work in unity, on the same foundation. Even for those who have been hearing the gospel of the cross for some time, the Lord spoke deeply. I was touched personally and went up for the altar call because the Lord challenged my life. When you hear the Gospel of the cross, either you respond to it or you rebuff it. There is no middle ground! The 2008 conference brought us closer together because many emotional links were shaken. Since then, I can see that even the church in Umoja has taken a new step in the spirit. For the Church in Africa to be united, we need the apostolic ministry and the revelation of the heart of Christ. Things are becoming more and more serious because the days are evil.

All the CTMI Network partners are so looking forward to the next conference this August; but we are going to be additionally blessed to have Brother Miki visit us before that in March for some Church Meetings.”

International Conference in Mauritius

The 8th International Conference was yet another opportunity for the 1600 people present in Curepipe to
hear of the Lord’s specific call for the churches of the CTMI Network from Miki Hardy, Neil Martin, and Peter McKenzie. 450 visitors, representing 25 countries attended, including 10 first-time visitors from India, Nigeria, and Cameroon. One highlight was having all the members of the apostolic team from the Partner Churches together (photo p. 8)! The big question remained: how to pack all these people into a hall designed for 1200? Setting up a tent outside the hall with a large screen, allowed 350 brothers and sisters to participate in the worship and listen to the preaching. Without doubt, the greatest challenge for everyone was the gospel message... It will be impossible to stand firm in these last days if we have a religious spirit.

A special outing to the building site at Trianon was organised so that everyone could join in the building work for that day. It was a great and fun time, despite the poor weather. All in all, the 2008 Conference brought confrontation from the Lord, but was also a time of great encouragement.

According to you, what are the following people doing on a building site on public holidays: English teacher; webmaster; tour operator driver;
banker; night-watchman; air hostess; creative director; estate agent; nurse? Well, they are not attending a careers convention, that’s for sure! All these brothers and sisters want to bring their contribution to the work of building the new auditorium. This reminds us of the spirit present amongst the Israelites during the building of the tabernacle. [Ex. 35:21-22]

But, as Brother Miki keeps exhorting everyone, the work can only be completed if the finances continue to come in; and more importantly, if there are sufficient workers on the site. So, let’s not just go there on public holidays... By making ourselves available whenever we can, is also a reflection of our personal commitment to this great task... “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

It has been a while since we published CTMI Today, 8 months in fact! We are
genuinely sorry, especially for those of you who do not have regular access to our website.

Over the past few months, we have been somewhat swamped with work. However, since the New Year, things are back to normal in the Media Department.

What are, to you, the priorities for the CTMI Network for 2009?

As always, we wait on the Lord for
His direction. At this time, we expect to begin holding National Leaders’ Conferences again; however, we are not going to force any doors.

We will look to and trust the Lord for direction. Also, it is strongly on our hearts to invest in the CTMI Partner Churches. They need to be encouraged and established solidly on the foundation of Christ.

Last year, your priority was the construction of the new auditorium at Trianon. Are you pleased with the progress; when do you expect the work on the main building and the offices to be complete, and do you have a date for this year’s International Conference?

When you consider this new building rising up out of the ground in what used to be a sugar cane field, it is easy to see the progress, despite it having been a hard year nonetheless. At this point, I am not able to set a date for anything as it all depends on two things: firstly, that finances continue to come in; secondly that Christians come to help. And I must admit, I would like to see much more in that regard.

Having said that, we live and work one day at a time and have seen the Lord provide until now. I should think therefore, that this year’s Conference will be held at Trianon, but am not yet in a position to confirm a date.

The auditorium at Trianon will hold over 3000 seats; are we therefore expecting many newcomers?

Only the Lord can draw people’s hearts to Him. Our greatest weapon is prayer. Certainly we have a part to play, in reaching out and preaching the Good News to people, but we must trust the Lord for the rest. Everything will happen by His grace and in His time. I must admit that I am expecting great things from the Lord; and it encourages me to pray, and wait and see what He will accomplish in this building.

You’ve mentioned holding National Leaders Conferences this year; what countries do you have in mind at this point?

As you know, last year I committed myself totally to the building project. But this year, my heart is once again open – I am in fact quite excited – to travel and share the gospel in the nations where we have been called. As I’ve said, we don’t intend to force open doors, but we are planning for something in Durban, RSA, in Cameroon, and possibly Nigeria as well. As for the rest, we will wait and see what the Lord brings.

Recently, Neil Martin went to Durban from San Diego for a few months; Peter McKenzie went there from Ringwood... Is it through these long-term visits that you see the an increase in spiritual investment in the Partner Churches of CTMI?

It’s important to bear in mind that every move or direction from the Lord is different. We cannot say, as a result, that because Neil and Peter were sent to other churches, we’re now going to exchange ministries between local churches. It really is all about God’s direction! Neil’s move to South Africa was something that had already been strongly on our hearts for many months. We shared it amongst the elders and it became clearer to both Neil and Brenda, and ourselves, that it was the Lord’s direction. That’s when the decision was made.

CTMI’s ‘Heart-Talk’ is now on three new TV channels broadcasting to Africa. What is so important about reaching out to Christians through Radio and TV?

In this modern world and in these last days, both Radio and TV are the best tools available. Christians are very eager to watch preaching on TV. I know many Christians are struggling and are discouraged – my desire is to see them coming into contact with the gospel of the cross. We want them to be able to hear what the Lord has for His Church in the last days. The Lord has blessed us with a message where Christians can lead victorious lives and experience true freedom in Christ. That’s why we must spread this message as far and wide as possible.

CTMI has invested large amounts of resources in the media department, with more investment planned? Every week hundreds of visitors download free messages from our website. Are you pleased with these developments?

Absolutely! It’s on my heart that, with God’s help, we will be able to invest more in TV, Radio, and the Internet. We can see the results and I firmly believe this is the way forward. You can’t travel everywhere, but through these media, it becomes possible to reach as many people as the Lord wants.

“An unforgettable experience!”

Who would ever have imagined that I would spend four months in Cameroon one day? It all began when
I heard that Clarence Thésée was going there... On hearing this, everything in me said, ‘Yes!’ I thought to myself, “Wow! I’d love to go.” I was filled with excitement; even the Elders all thought it was a great idea! This would be a totally new experience for me with the Lord. What an opportunity and a privilege to serve an Elder and to learn from him on the ground in the mission field! One small hitch: it would not be without sacrifice as I would have to sell my new laptop computer to pay for the trip.

I left Mauritius and travelled to Cameroon via Nairobi in August, and spent the first 2 months with Joseph Lagarrigue, an Elder from La Réunion, and Clarence. In that time I watched carefully, listened, and tried to be as much of a help as possible as we travelled across the country. I saw first-hand the deprivation that many pastors and Christians live in and, also, the state of the church where many false doctrines are preached. I met many local men of God, some of whom plan to attend this year’s conference in Mauritius. They all carry something that I want to have. I was even asked to speak at a youth camp! It was hard when the time came for Clarence and Joseph to leave, I missed them; but I decided to extend my stay to spend time with Fabien Larhubarbe, who was on his way, as well as to attend the Leaders’ Conference in Yaoundé. I was able to be involved directly in the practical arrangements for this event. The conference itself was an incredible experience, what organisation and teamwork required to get it all to come together! The Gospel is simple, but it cuts to the heart. We all felt the love of God for His Church. I know that the seed fell on good soil...

I discovered that serving the Lord is not always what I had expected it to be. The cross is not accepted everywhere, and opposition comes in subtle and different ways! What a privilege though to have taken part in a 4-month Missionary Trip.

“You have not come here by your own will. The hand of God has led you here… There are many reasons why you could be here, but God has one purpose for you. He is
reaching out to touch you tonight, to rescue you from the devil so that you may love Him and give Him your lives… When I look at some of the faces I see here at camp, I could never have imagined that they would be brought to their knees before God and completely transformed! God doesn’t need us to do and say great things; He wants us to carry His heart. He wants us to say, ‘Here I am Lord. You didn’t die for nothing! You have won my heart by your death on the cross. Take my life! I will serve you forever…’ God does not lie; if He calls you, He is faithful to save you. Respond to Him!”

If what I’m going to say needed a title, I would say that it would be: ‘Is the bar set too high?’… Many have stated that the standard is too high in what I preach, but Jesus made it clear from the start. That’s Christianity in its fullness… He set the bar very high so that anyone who desires to follow Him would know the price to pay… That’s why I want you to know right now what true Christianity is… Jesus wouldn’t tell you one thing and tell me the contrary. He tells us all the same thing. He will not shift the bar for any of us… I pray that revelation of the Christian life might take hold of your hearts. The Lord will do the rest. What He has started He will finish… When we accept that the bar is at the right height and we are ready to live the real Christian life, we accept the challenge that Jesus gave us: ‘If you want to follow me, you must first deny yourself, take up your cross and follow me…’ Our highest calling is just to be a Christian... I thank the Lord that I’ll never say the bar is set too high, because it has secured and protected my life. It saved my marriage. It saved my relationships with the Elders. I might have been sitting in church today, but with bitterness in my heart… But we want to trust you - your heart, your faith, your life and the gospel you carry; when we see it, feel it and know it, we want to support you… I am looking at a harvest of young preachers who are ready to serve the Lord according to the height at which the bar has been set. This is the gospel of the cross, and it’s what will bear fruit in the last days”

Youth Camp 2007 - Part 1:ACTIVITIES

From 350 participants in 2005 to over 500 from 12 countries in 2007, the annual CTMI Youth Camp at
Belle-Mare in Mauritius was an incredible international event... Treasure Hunt, team spirit, personal sharing with Elders; and, through it all the Lord communicated His vision! CTMI Today asked a number of those present for their impressions.

• All kinds of faces, races, and languages in one place with the same focus – Jesus Christ! • On the way, I was singing on the bus, now I have no voice and it’s only the first day… • All I know is I want to be hit by God, and not a small hit, Lord hit me hard! • Tonight with Marc was wonderful; he spoke about the Good Samaritan, how we need to have the same heart for one another because that’s the heart Jesus had for us…

• I want the Lord to refine me by His power; so Lord, please turn up the heat… • Each team is so very different, it’s so awesome to see the oddest group of people working together… • The games really brought out the best and the worst in all of us… • Lindsay shared simply and powerfully; we cannot stay bound to things of the world or of the flesh if we want to serve the Lord... • My only desire is to be set free more and more…

• Before we began the second leg of the Treasure Hunt our team prayed together; it was truly amazing to see what happened amongst us after we had placed the day before the Lord. • I learnt that when we are weak and lack endurance, the Lord strengthens us, using our brothers and sisters in Christ… • Being part of a team is good grounding for the gospel - it shows us how to give our lives for one another; we cannot be independent and selfish but must work as a team in all things… • What a privilege to be a part of this church, to serve God with the support of men like Miki and the Elders. They carry something in the spirit which is so so special! • I don’t think I am going to have a chance to meet the other 500 youth here, time is flying by and I’m so sad about that…

• The Treasure Hunt was so cool, so well thought out… • We did quite a lot of running, but not a lot of thinking… • We didn’t get the treasure, but we learned to go into battle with a good attitude… • The Lord has really exposed the lack of co-operation and selfishness in me, but I am encouraged... • I discovered that today was not about finding the treasure, but rather about discovering the hidden jewels in each one of my team-mates, that the Lord has brought here to contribute to His kingdom… • Miki’s vision for the youth was overwhelming, that we should live according to the standard the Lord has set for us without compromise, and relying on His grace and strength to carry us through…

• The Elders encouraged us not to lose the deposit that we have received during these last few days… • It is evident that God is truly at work, He really humbled me and made me see that without Him, I am absolutely nothing… • This camp was amazing because I saw first hand the ability of the gospel to melt a heart and change a life… • This gospel we are hearing is the true power of God.

Trianon - Testimonies

Vincent, one of our valued landscape artists, has offered his services at the site. “When I heard about this project, I thought that I would love to take part!”
Simultaneously, he received an attractive offer elsewhere, yet he felt that this was not what he was supposed to do... “Why don’t I rather give myself to this vision, instead of thinking of the money I could make?” Miki’s encouragement was to respond to the Lord’s conviction in his heart. “I am now working full-time on the site,” says Vincent, smiling, and full of joy! Like him, many young people are giving body and soul without expectation of anything in return, and are finding an extraordinary joy in this service.

‘Always ready!’ could be Jinny’s catch phrase. This mother of 4 and grandmother of 2 manages two textile companies and serves the Lord. Thanks to her, and her team, the workers are fed and equipped for their work! “I had a desire to help from the start. But, because of poor health, I couldn’t lift anything. Last November, on a scorching hot day, I came to the site with fruit juice and ice-cold water. The guys applauded! Their response touched me deeply, so I started to come twice a week, then three times... Our Partner Church in Chaville, France, amongst others, raises funds. So, since February, we bring lunches, tea and coffee, snacks, and also practical things like overalls, gumboots, T-shirts, a first-aid kit. Soon, we will be able to cook here on the site.”

TRIANON

“We need to bring the fire of the Spirit, the zeal of the Spirit,” Miki announced in January 2007 to
all the churches in Mauritius.

His prayer is that the new church will be a place where all Mauritians, and Christians from everywhere, can come to find life; a place of healing, repentance and salvation, where they will be able to feel the life of the Spirit. That is why, one year on, this massive project is becoming a reality with the construction of the new auditorium.

On 24 September 2007, a small group of people officially started working on the site. The plot of land measuring 3½ acres (±14000 m²) was cleared, the sugar cane uprooted. To start off, a store room needed to be built, toilets arranged, the necessary machinery acquired; above all, the layout for the various buildings needed to be demarcated... essential for the general organisation, and vitally important for a building site to advance. The area is deserted, uninhabited, and we can admire the fields of an unending plane of green sugar cane to the mountain range on the northern horizon. It’s already possible to imagine what it will be like when the construction work is completed: the auditorium will be on the right, the CTMI and church offices in the centre and rear, all with a beautiful view over the surrounding landscape.

The team received the delivery of the roof stucture, supplied from the UK in sections for assembly on the spot. Having been busy at Trianon for a number of months now, the new structure is rapidly taking shape for a project of this size. Up to 200 people can be working at one time, and the work is making rapid progress!

GOODBYE CUREPIPE...

“There are two important things driving this construction. Firstly, the gospel of the cross, the result of lives given has really produced fruits! The building in Curepipe, built in 1990, seems to have shrunk over the years, which makes it difficult to accommodate everyone, especially for our International Conference!” To top it all, it isn’t just a physical change of location but, according to the conviction in Miki’s heart for what lies ahead,“There is something very special that the Lord is going to do in this place in the days to come.”

A PLATFORM FOR CHRISTIANS...

As numerous prophecies have confirmed, Mauritius has a major role to play for the Church: the gospel is gaining ground, and our building also needs to get bigger. It is the main consideration of the Elders and the team supporting them; to build a church that is open and ready to welcome Christians from everywhere, regardless of their backgrounds.

“As Elders and leaders of churches, we really feel that in general, God’s people are suffering. There is also a great need for the gospel to reach the unsaved; those who will come to know the Lord. This is why we are building a church that is big enough to welcome all these Christians and non-Christians alike.” This is therefore the construction of a haven for restoration and a place where the Lord will work. As Miki confided earlier this year: “I am investing myself totally in this construction, as my heart is full of expectation for what God will do in this place, where the elderly, families, youth will come to seek salvation, deliverance, healing, and freedom in the Lord Jesus. Christians who are discouraged, hurt, or who have abandoned the Lord will experience a new life with Jesus, thanks to the message of the cross! This place will be known for the gospel which is preached, and the love of Jesus will be tangible among His people.”

A VISION BUILT IN THEIR HEARTS

Many have the desire to participate in this massive project.

Miki believes there is a double objective: “What encourages me is that there are many Christians, brothers and sisters who come and who are interested in the construction that is taking place on the ground, as well as in their hearts!”

It’s quite true that this undertaking does not consist only of bricks being added to the foundations... the vision and the construction are one! Everyone’s faith is also being put to the test. Funds need to be found so the work does not slow down. From the start, the Lord has used brothers and sisters who felt led to give. Until now, everything that is required has come in. But it’s a daily prayer of all the church, and we all need to stand in faith for the harvest. We often use the image of a building as an illustration, a picture of our Christian life. So many have been really touched to see how much the Lord has spoken to them even as they worked. More than just manual work, it is also a spiritual experience which is renewed daily, and this work is being done at every level. Teamwork is ideal for fellowship and developing relationships! A city on a hill The construction is also an opportunity for those working there to be witnesses for the Lord.

“Up to our necks in the ground, trying to dig the foundations, we couldn’t see anything clearly, but already there was a wonderful unity,” says Patrick, the site foreman.

And that spirit of unity has become evident to outsiders... no shouting or screaming, no swearing, much laughter and teasing; all of which is quite unusual for a building site!

“What grace to team up with an Elder!”

I had the grace and privilege to accompany Elder Marc Labonté on a visit to Gaborone, the capital of
Botswana. Marc is man of prayer, who carries an incredible heart for the church.

Of the 50 members of the Harvest Christian Church, we previously knew only some of the brothers and sisters who had attended the International Conference, but I was touched to see how quickly we felt at ease amongst them... as if we had known them all our lives. We felt the same heart and the same spirit that unites us in spite of borders, race, or culture.

Marc’s message was certainly not the latest fashionable doctrine, but it was the gospel that the people welcomed and recognised as the truth. For the first time in my life, I could see the influence that false doctrines have on God’s people. In the 5 weeks I was there, I saw lives change and false conceptions about faith and prosperity crumble. Emotional relationships made way to the Spirit of God and lives were consecrated to Christ.

How wonderful it was to feel Marc’s love for me. He really took care of me. In many of the meetings, he gave me the opportunity to speak. It is wonderful to work in a team. At no time did Marc make me feel the difference in our levels of spiritual maturity.

Spending time with the brothers and sisters, and hearing them share their hearts, also opened my eyes. It’s so easy to be busy in church, organising things. But to be ready to give your life, time and energy for brothers and sisters, is something else. Increasingly, I want to be able to help and be an encouragement just as Marc was. Watching him encourages me to grow, to allow God to work in me so I can become that real blessing to the church.

What grace to be able to testify and participate in this marvellous work. What a wonderful family God has made us a part of.

Glory be to Him! This trip was a wonderful opportunity to discover and learn about another church, and to experience first-hand the impact of a specific anointing of the fivefold ministry and its role in the construction of the church.

“So much to learn!”

I can only thank the Lord for the grace He has granted me to be part of
this missionary trip to visit Grace Gospel Church, the local CTMI Partner Church in Durban. The Lord does amazing things; at the time, looking at the obstacles, I could have missed His plan for me. Fortunately, the desire of my heart to go was stronger than my circumstances, which could not stop me. I met wonderful people there and the Lord did precious things in my heart during my stay. What a blessing to serve the Lord together with an Elder, Evangelist Lindsay Lajeunesse, as well as Patrick Derand from La Réunion. I am also grateful for the homes and families that welcomed us; we were really well taken care of!

The first thing that the Lord showed me, during the evangelism course given by Lindsay, was how lightly I took my salvation. On the final night, I was finished and I really humbled myself before Him. I felt so encouraged to become a soul winner for Christ. In fact, now that I live with Lindsay, I can say that this desire continues to grow. It was astounding how the Lord used him so powerfully to speak into the lives of people in every meeting that he shared. He really had to trust the Lord for his English, and despite not being so fluent, I can affirm that when he preached, the words that came out brought life to people... and really shook me. Isn’t it wonderful to see that through this gospel the Lord always shows us where we are, so that we may all walk on the same road once we have aligned ourselves with the truth. Our flesh is always confronted!

Our time with Basil was also priceless. To be able to stay at his house and see how he gives his life for the church was such an encouragement to me. I was also amazed how from the first day, I felt so at home; after talking to some brothers and sisters, I felt as if I had known them for ages. It will now be easier for me to pray for Grace Gospel Church, as I know who they are and where they stand in the gospel.

With this issue, we are delighted to bring you a glimpse of the work achieved so far on the
new CTMI auditorium being built at Trianon, in the centre of our beautiful island.

In January 2007, when Miki declared his vision for this new building to the church, it would have been hard to imagine that such a spectacular building project, both in the natural and in the spirit, would finally take shape. Today, I believe that both Mauritians and many of our brothers and sisters across the CTMI Network want to have a part in this exciting undertaking. This is possible!

Please continue to keep the building work, and all involved in it, in your daily prayers, without which all we are trying to achieve will be in vain. But there are other ways you can support this project. Financial donations are more than welcome; but have you considered taking some time off to visit us here in Mauritius and joining the wonderful team on the building site itself? I guarantee that you will experience such precious fellowship in working together with brothers and sisters from many nations. Why don’t you ask the Lord about this?

NEW AUDITORIUM, TRIANON - THE VISION

Since you first raised this project 18 months ago, much has taken place. Has anything relating to the vision changed or been strengthened in your heart?

Now that the structure itself is rising up and beginning to look like an auditorium, my heart rejoices at what the Lord will do in Trianon. We are going to experience amazing times with the Lord! We can testify in our hearts that He will pour out His Spirit and bring salvation, healing and restoration to so many hurt and discouraged Christians, as well as a tremendous harvest of souls.

You often mention ‘restoration of discouraged, disappointed Christians’. Will this be exclusively for Mauritians or will people from other nations have a share in what the Lord will do at Trianon?

Christians are leaving churches in droves; others are discouraged, directionless, without vision. What they are hearing has not changed their lives or set them free. Because of what we preach – Christ and Him crucified – people, no matter where they come from, will be able to tell the difference, and will be drawn to what they hear is happening here. I know that God will do great things in this place.

Why did you not consider a major contractor for such a large project, and who is doing the work?

After considering the fees payable to an outside contractor, we concluded that we could save millions of Rupees by getting involved ourselves, by putting our hearts and our talents together. So we hired some skilled workers. But more importantly, we have a good number of Christians who have taken time off work. We are so grateful that the Lord has put a desire in the hearts of so many brothers and sisters who come on Saturdays and public holidays to help out for the day. This is a huge cost saving. I also encourage everyone, all the brothers and sisters to have a share in the work. It’s good for them to feel that they’ve contributed in building our auditorium.

Has all the funding come in, or are you confident for the rest?

Thanks to the astonishing response from brothers and sisters from our Partner Churches, we paid cash for the land. Again, for the building work, along with the regular monthly support from individuals and families, it has been miracle upon miracle. Time and again people have donated large sums of money they’ve been blessed with. We had hoped to sell the complex in Curepipe by this time, to provide the needed funds for this stage of the work. Yet, after 8 months of building, with each deadline, we have seen the Lord provide miraculously. So, we believe wholeheartedly that He will continue to provide for the rest as well.

You evidently love being on the site. How are you managing all your other responsibilities, particularly to the churches ?

Initially, I was reluctant to be involved with a project of this size. But then I began to feel that I should play a role to help and guide those working together. I have committed myself to the building for this year and that is where I will be most of the time; and in my heart, I am at peace, knowing that the Lord will undertake and take care of His church. I remain open to what He wants me to do.

Does this project mean less involvement of CTMI in Africa and elsewhere?

On the contrary, the Lord is raising more and more men and women, workers in the team across our network of churches everywhere. Certainly many will come and spend time in Mauritius, but the vision to preach the gospel in Africa remains the same... there’s no question of stopping anything!

Most people reading this are overseas, what would you say to them about this project?

There are many ways of supporting it... prayer, finances, etc. But, if it is on their hearts to come here and help, we welcome them with open arms.

2008 – A Year for Building!

Dear Friends and Partners,

It is with joy that we write to encourage you at the start of this year. Joy, because we realise how privileged we are to know the Lord, while all around us the world is in distress and despair. What grace to belong to Him and be free to serve Him! We want to thank Him for all the victories we've had in our lives this past year, for His protection, and also for all the 'Workers in Training' He has sent us so far.

Our prayer for each one of you is that you will draw closer to the Lord this year. We realise our need, more than ever, to persevere and be strengthened in Him, so that we may be victorious and remain on the road of the cross. For we face many challenges in our personal lives and in this world that will try to turn us from His ways.

Large projects are ahead of us in 2008: in Mauritius, with the church of Curepipe moving to the new auditorium in Trianon; and also in many of our Partner Churches in the CTMI Network that will be as much of a challenge.

In spite of the difficulties and the trials we face, let us be reminded that the Lord is the one building His Church, and we can rely on His grace and His faithfulness. We are but instruments that He has chosen; so let's serve Him wholeheartedly!

We will also be working to spread the gospel and share the revelation that has been entrusted to us; for it goes without saying that our desire is to see the gospel being proclaimed to our nation and the other nations of the world. America needs to hear this gospel; Africa needs this gospel; so does India and Europe... We cannot limit Him!

We want new people everywhere to hear the Good News, but also for hurt and discouraged Christians, and those who have abandoned the Lord, to come to new life in Jesus through the gospel of the cross; for His love to be truly tangible amongst His people. The task is great, but we are expecting a great harvest!

Dear brothers, sisters, friends, we wish you the very best in your walk with the Lord. May 2008 be a year in which He is glorified through each of our lives. The world is waiting, and in these last days, we all want to be 'lights shining in the darkness', as Jesus asks of us. Therefore, be participants – not just spectators – in the wonderful plan the Lord has for our nation and the world!

" Father we know and feel you are preparing the ground to remove the veil so many will come to see…”

215 people attended Grace Gospel Church’s second Family Camp, which has now become an 'international’ event. Brothers and sisters from Mauritius, France, Botswana, La Réunion, Zimbabwe, and RSA all gathered in Eston, outside Durban, in eager anticipation of what Miki had to share with all those present.

The chilly temperature at Camp Jonathan got even colder as a cold front coming from the Cape hit KwaZulu-Natal. In spite of this, everyone seized every opportunity to share and encourage one other. Every evening, the courageous youth braved the cold and came together to praise the Lord.

Miki’s message, though encouraging, had a serious note. He reminded everyone that these are the last days; thus we must realise that what we have received so far is not enough to guarantee we will finish the race. The enemy is at the door, and we are all vulnerable. That is why we need the gospel to work our lives daily. He encouraged all present that, if they belong to this gospel, they have a role to play in God’s plan to reach unbelievers and lost Christians.

"God is busy preparing for days when the gospel will be spread through you and me, to set men and women free… which is why we cannot just do whatever we want when we are called of God! It is the same warning that Paul gives Timothy, telling him not to take the call of God on his life lightly…"

Miki encouraged preachers not to stop preaching the gospel of the cross, not to believe that it could be too much for their listeners to deal with. He told them to resist the temptation of diluting the gospel, and to continue preaching sound doctrine.

He also spoke about the 'ministry of the Spirit'… God is preparing men and women to become workers in the kingdom. If we want to be ministers of the spirit, we must carry the revelation of the gospel; which Paul describes as: ‘being changed into the image of Christ’. Transformed lives happen when the revelation of the gospel is brought through broken men. Trying to build the church in any other way leads to all sorts of problems.

We must stand firm and not waver in the face of persecution, temptations and trials. The gospel is the gospel, without mixture. Anything added is foreign to the spirit of the gospel and denies its very power.

Today we see comfortable Christianity abounding, where problems are the result of 'demons' that must be cast out. Those who do not understand the spirit of the gospel refuse to acknowledge problems. They believe that Jesus has accomplished everything, so that they won't have any hardships. What is disturbing is what is removed from the gospel, which allows people to believe this... the very essence of Christianity is under attack! We cannot avoid the reality that our lives need to be identified with the sufferings and with the death of Christ!

The spirit of the gospel reveals to us how we should live our Christian life under the New Covenant. "Nothing of me or you; all of Him!” If the Church could grasp this truth and revelation, then we would all walk in unity of the spirit. The only way for Christ to live His life through us, is when we take up our cross, follow Him, and lose our lives.

Many testified of being disillusioned by law, by other gospels, and by experiences in other churches. Some were in a state of rebellion against the Lord, but all unanimously testified how the Gospel came to them (some as little as weeks before) winning their hearts for Christ, and uniting them to its truth.

Everyone was incredibly encouraged by what was shared. As Miki declared, "We know that great things are ahead”

Thanks to Izak Lock, the CTMI media distributor in RSA, Pastor Hennie Wilken of Pentecostal Protestant Church, Pretoria got in touch with us and organised for Miki Hardy to come and take some meetings. A large team braved the freezing conditions of the Highveld to accompany Miki & Audrey
Miki began by sharing that a life fully identified with the sufferings and death of Christ is the foundation of Christianity. Through it, we experience resurrection life. This is not something you just pray for; you must be willing to deny yourself and lose your life: “I never experienced victory until I understood that as a Christian I was called to identify my life with the sufferings of Christ…"

He also shared at length that the plan of God is for us to be free. Yet this is not a reality for most Christians today, as the church is paralysed by law! Christians don’t understand that they don't need law. Through Christ, God gave us salvation, and righteousness by faith, “Jew, Gentile, black, white, rich and poor. There is only one way to salvation, and that is through faith in the Son of God!"

“God calls us to walk a righteous life, but I cannot do that if I am not free to be who I am. It is better for me to be myself and mess it up and to trust God to change me, than to be bound by Law and never be changed. Once the gospel convicts you, no one will have to tell you what you should do anyway. You will have a conviction and will be led by it. So, why then do you need Law, when it can do nothing for you, and you have the real thing in Jesus Christ? I encourage you to take every bit of law in your life and throw it away!”

Miki also shared on the responsibility of God’s servants, how the Word of God is the most powerful instrument on earth to change a man's life, but when it is compromised and diluted, it loses all its power. As a result, today in the church, we see immaturity and an inability to discern the flesh from the spirit. Preachers even teach false doctrine, and mislead God’s people.

“The time is coming for deep restoration in the church. Christ cannot come back for a religious and lifeless church. He will come back when the Church is shining with His glory,” added Miki, laying these foundational messages in the hearts of all present…

Local Church Visit to Botswana

Gaborone to spend a few days with the local Partner Church there. Here are a few testimonies from that visit to Harvest Christian Church; the full report can be read on our website.

My whole life, I have been entangled in law and religion. Like the Pharisees, I searched the scriptures but I didn't find Jesus. I have never been sure of His love. Through the CTMI team, God revealed to me that my experience was to show me how I can do nothing in my own strength. God Himself is revealing His love to me. He’s putting real faith in my heart. He is busy working in me and is drawing me closer to Him - Anli Smit

I was living under law, under pressure to change myself. When things didn't work out, I became bitter; I felt that I had wasted my youth serving the Lord. This time last year, I wanted nothing to do with God. Today, I'm sitting under the gospel of grace; it has lifted a huge weight from my shoulders. I feel hope when God touches my heart now. I honestly believe that God brought the CTMI team to Botswana just for me. I could not go on. For years I have tried to be a better Christian; I fasted, I read 10 chapters of the Bible a day and never missed a church meeting. However I never changed. The more effort I put in, the worse it became. A week before Basil came, I just broke down and told God I was willing to do anything to get back the experience of my first love of Christ. When Basil opened his heart and shared, I knew that God wanted to change me. I suddenly believed that there was enough grace and love for me to change, and to move from a carnal state to a spiritual state. Out of nowhere, joy came, as I recognised that what I was hearing was the truth. For the first time in many years, I had solid hope for my family. I was delivered from the impossible expectations that I had set for myself and others around me. Now I can allow the gospel to change me and others. Malawi: Jean-Claude Lajeunesse

The response was very positive and they welcomed the message warmly.

The purpose of this trip to Malawi was for me and Howard from Bulawayo to take care of pastors that
CTMI works with. I stayed in Lilongwe, Blantyre, and Kasungu successively. In each place I was welcomed into a local pastor’s home. I spoke at many seminars to pastors and church leaders about the restoration of the Church and God’s servants. The response was very positive and they welcomed the message warmly. I was also able to meet many other pastors at these seminars and establish personal relationships with some of them.

It was wonderful to see Laison, a pastor who attended the International Conference in Mauritius in 2007. The gospel has truly captured his heart. I saw great transformation in his church; and those around him also testified of the changes that have taken place.

While amongst these men of God, I realised what a great investment needs to be made... We have worked with a few pastors for quite some time, and they are excellent representatives of the gospel on the ground, especially now that CTMI is registered in Malawi. On the other hand, there were also a few pastors who were seeking their own interests, all strongly influenced by the gospel of prosperity. They thought CTMI was there to top up their finances but upon hearing the gospel message, they faced a choice. After hearing the truth, this often causes many to draw back. But those who truly accept the gospel of the cross wish to receive more and desire to strengthen their relationship with CTMI. For the time being, a sturdy and solid foundation has been laid. Around 10 pastors genuinely want to move forward with CTMI, which is a good beginning on which we can build! We really need to ensure that there will be Follow-up visits to Malawi. Many pastors have come to realise that they cannot continue serving the Lord as they were before. Now is the time!

I arrived in Bujumbura, tasked with continuing the work that Jocelyn Neeladoo had started a month earlier. We had to supervise the finishing of the CTMI Burundi office complex, as well as finalising registration procedures. Naturally, my visit also served to ensure that the missionary work continued with the local churches that CTMI is in relationship with. One conclusion of my stay is just how thirsty Christians are for the gospel. Despite the number of churches, they are lost in all sorts of man-made doctrines. In fact, we see the same thing everywhere; the need to return to sound doctrine. My role was to encourage the servants of God to persevere on this road in order to allow the Lord to work in their hearts. Showing them the importance of working together in the same spirit was a priority, as this is often a very sensitive topic. Burundi has been scarred by a tribal war between the Hutus and the Tutsis, in which many have been killed. The brothers there told us that Burundi has only seen stability of a kind for the past two years. Amas and I could feel that, in spite of the formidable efforts by the United Nations to bring about peace, the roots of this problem still exist in many hearts And it is also present among the servants of God. However, I can say with confidence that Miki’s messages broadcast on local radio have gone straight to the heart of those roots and have challenged many pastors. This situation is a stronghold that the Lord must overthrow in their hearts, in order to bring them not only to love the gospel of the cross, but to represent it as well. Bernard Banor (Mauritius)

Cameroon - Part 2: Clarence Thesee

Upon hearing the message we preach, they felt the need to rediscover this pure gospel.

Clarence Thesee from Mauritius and Joseph Laguarrigue from La Reunion were in Cameroon for a 2-month missionary trip.

After Jean-Claude’s trip to Cameroon, we went to ensure a Follow Up, by establishing relationships with key people and to continue with the preparation for the national conference in Yaounde in November. I was very pleased to discover a model of a Cameroonian Church; evangelised around 1860 by Jamaican missionaries, it is quite old-fashioned. In the 1960’s, the country experienced a Pentecostal revival, principally brought about through Samuel Baker, who led the servants of God to love sound doctrine. In 1987, he even attended a Christian conference Revival 87 - that Miki Hardy had organised in Mauritius!

After all that has happened in Africa following this original revival, and as a result of the excesses of the charismatic movement, many of this older generation of pastors have wanted to protect the Church locally. But upon hearing the message we preach, they felt the need to rediscover this pure gospel that rooted them in what Jesus accomplished on the cross. They realise that this is truly the only road that will lead them back to this foundation. We held five 3-day seminars in Douala and Yaounde. Joseph and I took meetings alternatively, sharing mostly on the work of the cross in our lives, or Law and Grace in the Church. Throughout our time there, we could see how Christians in Cameroon truly hunger after the true gospel.

Cameroon - Part 1: Jean-Claude Lajeunesse

I preached at 200 meetings...

Jean-Claude Lajeunesse and his wife Jacqueline spent six months in Cameroon.

After the national conference held in Douala in November 06, and several follow-up trips, CTMI sent us to establish relationships with pastors and their local churches. It was a joy to go and meet the brothers and sisters of Cameroon! As a French speaking country (out of 10 provinces, 7 are Francophone, and only 3 are Anglophone) Cameroon plays an important role in the region: it has connections with Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Congo, and English speaking Nigeria. We travelled all over the country and I preached at 200 meetings and organised many seminars. I also gave about 15 radio interviews, on Magic FM and Radio Bonne Nouvelle (Good News Radio), which is an excellent way to proclaim the gospel and where messages from CTMI are already being broadcast.

The Church in Cameroon is very steeped in tradition. The message of the cross must return to the heart of Christian life. Some of the pastors have realised that they need guidance to come back to the truth. Upon hearing our preaching, many of them said that they had been right to wait and hope.

Jacqueline also had a wonderful time with the sisters. It is so important to have well founded and structured churches, otherwise the sisters will not be able to take their place. Those we met are thirsty for the gospel and desire truth; they have seen that they are not living the reality of the cross. We respect and admire these sisters greatly, because they do not shirk their responsibilities. Those married to servants of God are willing and ready to live a life of sacrifice by going to work so that their husbands might be free to serve the Lord.

It’s the time of the Lord for the Church in Cameroon and more specifically for certain pastors and leaders. Although still tied to their habits and doctrines, they testified that something had taken place in their hearts. Many of the pastors we met truly long for something else. Many committed to attending the Conference in Yaounde in November. It’s now up to Clarence, Joseph, Fabien and Sam to continue the work that has started in their hearts. The gospel of the cross came as a light to all those we met during our stay!

It’s almost 5:00 am and the sun is rising slowly over a silent Curepipe. The only movement to be found is in Willoughby Road. Some of those queuing up there tell us: We have been coming here every year as a family; for us, it’s the best flea market on the island!

It’s so early, yet over 400 people are already busy, hard at work in the restaurant, with their white aprons and caps on; others shift boxes and chairs, all in friendly harmony. Their enthusiasm is evident, as are their smiles. Despite the early start, no one appears to lack motivation, even though all went to bed very late indeed. Prisca, 23, expresses this passionate eagerness: For us, it’s a day where we go out of our way to give our best for the visitors. We do this for the Lord and His Church. We are a missionary church and to finance the cost of missions, we raise funds. What an encouragement it is for us to work together for this vision. So, it was very easy for me to wake up early this morning! This team of workers seems to have only one goal in mind: to serve the public with all their hearts! Each stand of the flea-market has a team of 4-6 sellers, cashiers, supported by those doing the packing, according to what is on sale... cutlery, hardware items, clothing for men, women and children; shoes, electrical appliances, books, jewellery, toys in addition to face painting and games. On closer inspection, it becomes clear why there is such a crowd the prices are so cheap! A member of the organising committee explains where all the goods on sale come from: On top of what we donate from our own homes and those of our friends and relatives, we contact companies, hotels, factories. We also go door to door. Thereafter God Himself performs miracles by providing. We sort out what we receive carefully, so as only to sell the best articles. Our flea-market has a hard earned reputation for quality and professionalism. It’s noon, and the ticket counter has already sold 2000 tickets for adults, excluding children. Everything is flying off the shelves and tables. It’s quite something to see entire families surrounded by bags overflowing with clothes, toys, and kitchen implements. We got here at 5:00 am and have already spent Rs.5 000.00 (US$165). We’ve been saving up for today. Our only problem is how to get all this home on the bus, explains a family from the far south of the island! As the kitchen implements stand runs out of goods, the restaurant is beginning to gear up for business. The barbecue is sizzling; the fried noodles are extremely tasty, as are the sandwiches. As for the cakes, they are more than exquisite. In the meantime, every 15 minutes, there is an instant draw taking place baskets of groceries and goodies won by a happy contestant. Will the surprises ever end? All the families seem overjoyed at having made the effort to come! At 4:30 pm, the visitors leave and the doors close. Dear Friends & Readers, Welcome to our latest issue of CTMI Today. Much of the news you receive about the activities of CTMI is related to conferences or church visits that Miki makes to various countries and our Partner Churches. Questions & Answers with Miki Hardy

Why does CTMI put so much emphasis on different ministries working together? I believe it is evident from the Bible that different ministries (apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers) working together in unity are absolutely essential for the building and edification of the Church. CTMI emphasizes this because there is such a lack of teamwork in the body of Christ today. Look at Apostle Paul and the team that worked with him, it’s obvious that they all had different ministries.

After national conferences, you send members of the Apostolic team on follow-up visits; do you give them any guidance? In one sense, I have no guidance to give because they are sons who have been begotten in the gospel, and they already know the message that has been brought. It is their own calling that allows them to share what they carry in their hearts. The main point is to be sure that those sent, are one in the spirit of the gospel; which means they will build on the foundation and add to it, by bringing their anointing and doing what is necessary. Do you send men with specific ministries in a particular order, or does it depend on who is available to travel? The Bible shows how the ministries work together. So, we send team members according to their availability, but also according to the different gifts they carry. We know each one will bring a new stone to the building. However, it is essential that the apostolic and prophetic ministries lay the foundation first. Many small churches today have been started by self-appointed pastors who have evangelised a group of people. Can a true ministry be established by one man alone, even when it’s not certain that he has a calling on his life? This is at the root of many problems in the church today. Someone who loves and wants to serve the Lord may not necessarily be called to become a pastor. The Bible does not talk about independent evangelists going off on their own and opening churches! They are sent from a local church and should form part of the eldership of churches and ministries, which can then come along to establish a local church. In the same way, pastors have a specific anointing as part of the fivefold ministry within the local church. God’s people will recognise the heart their pastor has to care for them and the love he carries for them the heart of the shepherd for the flock. It is therefore very sad to see men or women with 15 or 20 followers declaring themselves pastors when they clearly are not up to that responsibility. How will these Christians grow? This is why in all our conferences, we challenge pastors to be sure about their calling. Who appointed them as pastor? Is there a real call of God on their lives? Unfortunately, many will ignore the challenge and just continue, but some do ask themselves and the Lord, what He wants for their lives. This is a huge problem for the Church, having Christians being led by men without the calling, who don’t carry that specific anointing of a pastor. There is no evidence of a one-man show church in the Bible. Sadly this is the model of the Church today across the world. This explains why Christians cannot grow fully into what God has called them to be God never planned to give one man the full responsibility of bringing the Church to maturity. It has always been a combination of ministries working together with the different gifts, callings, and anointings that were designed to do that. I think that the one-man syndrome in the church today is not the right way to go about it. You always use the word relationships when you talk about working together with churches and pastors. Why? Wherever you see ministries and men of God working together in the Bible, spiritual relationships are at the root of everythingÉ Men united in the spirit as a result of the gospel! It really is impossible to have such a relationship with someone who does not carry the spirit of the gospel and is not himself established on the foundation of the cross of Jesus Christ. What relationship can we possibly have with someone who does not walk on the same road as us? However, when a church leader accepts the message of the cross, is ready to give his life, to humble himself, then, because we are on the same road, living the same thing, we can build that relationship as we are both on the same foundation. Anything else is just friendship and not a relationship in the spirit. A true spiritual relationship is when you are willing to give your life for someone, and you know that he is ready in turn to give his life for you.

RADIO Impact in Mozambique

When CTMI first came to Maputo, we discussed making its ministry more known through weekly radio messages on the local TWR Affiliate FM station called Radio Capitale, where
I work as Station Manager. It would enable local church leaders to have a reference point as we advertised the conference that was finally held in July 06.

From March 06, I began dubbing Brother Miki's messages into Portuguese. My life was the first to be shaken, challenged, and blessed by the message of the cross as I listened to them before translating them! I realised that I had allowed so much mixture into my life and in my understanding of the gospel; that I needed the Lord to work in me from the foundation. Now, I receive calls and SMS from listeners virtually every day saying such positive things about the program. One sister, head of a large NGO, even told me that she considers this her breakfast every Sunday before she goes to church! I am even invited to speak about the cross in churches because people know me as Brother Miki’s voice!

As I left to come to Mauritius, my pastor said goodbye to me and he also encouraged the church to listen to the program every Sunday morning and evening, saying that he listened to them regularly! I was so amazed as I didn't know he had ever listened to even one of the broadcasts. Since the conference, he agrees with both the message and ministry of CTMI. Another AOG pastor who works with him has proposed that the messages should be broadcast on our radio stations in the north of Mozambique, which we are looking into.

During my time in Mauritius, I have been thinking of taking these programs to all the other Lusophone (Portuguese-speaking) countries in Africa and the world. It is not right that only Mozambique hears these messages, there is also Angola, Guinea Bissau, Cape Verde and Sao Tome in Africa! On my return, I will speak to the director of Trans World Radio; it's my desire that they may also hear the preaching of the cross!

The entire event was a celebration of the diversity that is the CTMI family From Zimbabwe, troupe dancing; the Seychelles troupe in straw hats; little Naomi from Reunion singing a Hebrew song. The Pureheart troupe sang several new and outstanding songs. The costumed country representatives were greeted with much applause and laughter for the traditional country parade. And the piece de resistance was a musical version of the Prodigal Son. The evening ended with Miki making an altar call for salvation, and new brothers and sisters being added to the great family!

For weeks before, the Publishing department had been hard at work finalising the latest issue of CTMI Today, the new CTMI brochure, the new look logo and
website. Meanwhile, the Fundraising team was there early each morning selling snacks and the new CTMI collection of T-Shirts and Jumpers at the 'Corner Shop'. The Media team worked late into the nights, editing the footage of the meetings and going through photographs, to produce a DVD pack of the conference, which is available for purchase. We bless the Lord for his faithfulness in allowing us once again to gather as a great family around His Word; for giving us the strength, guidance and the grace for everything to run smoothly; and, for the great honour of receiving a little more revelation, a little more vision, and a little more hope and faith so that we might carry it in our hearts and take it back to our respective churches. We live in exciting times!

Everything went so well this year. There was a relaxed and joyous atmosphere! The only apprehensive looks were on the faces of the youth, who played a large role in the coordination of this year's events. For the first time, they experienced the huge task of putting together an international conference. One of the many tasks facing them was how to fit 1600 people, 1750 on Sunday, in a hall designed for 1200! However, in this, like all the other details, young Olivier and his team rose to the challenge admirably.

It was quite a testimony of the Lord's faithfulness to see the sound crew, the International Evening team, and other key departments being run by youth who, a little over a year ago, were going full speed for the world. Now, this same youthful zeal is being used for God’s Kingdom and they are the first to testify to the joy it has brought them! The witness of that vibrant faith culminated at the International Evening on Sunday, which concluded our conference week, when 125 young people from 15 nations, of all colours and backgrounds, stood singing as one, I’ll stand... with arms high and heart abandoned... my soul, Lord to you surrendered. All I am is yours!

I don't know where we're going to put all these people... we’ll have to suspend benches from the ceiling! Before we even knew it, the 2007 International Conference was upon us! A week or so beforehand, delegates began to trickle into Eglise Chritienne in Curepipe. Familiar and new faces joyously greeting each other with hearts expectant for what lay ahead! 24 countries were represented, from which 12 Pastors had been specially invited by CTMI. This year, 5 new regions: Kerala, India; Mozambique, Australia, New Zealand and Nigeria were all present for the first time. Also, quite a number of regular TBN Africa/CTV viewers came from South Africa after having watched CTMI messages broadcast throughout Africa.

This year, with the presence of so many young people who have given a year of their lives to be formed for the Lord’s service under the Workers in Training program, there was a thorough lack of space in the homes for the additional 436 delegates that came. Undaunted, some delegates were happy to stay in small hotels in the heart of sunny Curepipe, eating out with brothers and sisters from the various countries, or coming to the homes to eat and enjoy fellowship after the compelling messages in the evenings. In the kitchen, old hands took up their place and newcomers mucked in happily every day, peeling hundreds of vegetables and preparing delicious meals. Teams of 50 served over 300 meals in the auditorium, which was converted every day into a restaurant. It’s amazing to see the brothers and sisters giving their lives, not worrying about missing out on the fellowship that happens at these conference lunches, but believing that their place is to serve others.

Signs of Revival 24 nations represented

CTMIs 7th International Conference continued in the same vein as the two previous years, where Revival was the main topic. Miki Hardy, Stephen Gachengo and Peter McKenzie truly blessed the 1600 people present every evening. Miki Hardy’s three messages focussed on the elements necessary for revival to occur: the Spirit of Faith; Spirit of Repentance; and Spirit of Grace.

CTMIs 7th International Conference continued in the same vein as the two previous years, where Revival was
the main topic. Miki Hardy, Stephen Gachengo and Peter McKenzie truly blessed the 1600 people present every evening. Miki Hardy’s three messages focussed on the elements necessary for revival to occur: the Spirit of Faith; Spirit of Repentance; and Spirit of Grace.

AND...

Every evening, after the preaching, Miki felt led to make an altar call for those who did not know Jesus as their Saviour. In all, over 90 people came forward during the week; some returning to the Lord after many years away from the church, led by God’s refreshing anointing to receive prayer. On Friday night, there was a special call for those needing healing. God’s presence was intense and prayer filled the church as the Elders prayed for the sick. Bodies and hearts were touched in unique ways. In truth, no one wanted to leave the church that night, even though it was rather late.

For the Sunday morning service, in a hall packed with 1750 people, Miki explained in detail about being sons and daughters in the house of God. With the help of a whiteboard, he elaborated on all the different points he had touched on during the week’s teachings that would allow us to be begotten in the house of God. Miki placed the emphasis on the right foundation on which EVERYTHING rests, which is Christ and Him crucified! This final meeting concluded a glorious week in the Lord’s presence. It was marvelous to see the Gospel preached with so much power and to see its fruits demonstrated. A special anointing had taken hold of every heart during the time of this conference week. The Spirit of God was truly at work amongst His people.

The Church should expect His presence, just as the disciples anticipated as they waited in the upper room, not knowing when they would receive a sign (Acts 2). We are looking for something real, not something manufactured by the hand of man, as is happening in many churches today. God is building His house and the throne of grace is in our midst. He is looking for people who are ready and prepared in advance, witnesses (martyrs in Greek!), who are ready to lay down their lives, whose hearts are given, because the time of the Lord’s coming is near. The time has come for our lives to change, for our bodies to be healed and for sinners to know repentance. God wants to bring back this fullness. As Peter demonstrated when he quoted Ezekiel 37, the Lord wants to unite His body so as to put His Spirit in us. Therefore, it is no longer time to be independent, but rather, to wait on God and to seek His presence in a greater dimension. His house is ready! May His life enter this body! May this body stand and walk in the power of His Spirit! God wants to use us! concluded Peter that evening.

Steven Gachengo shared on the Power of the Gospel. Revival is the power of the preaching of the gospel only the gospel can change lives and nations. The source of this power is the cross of Jesus Christ; only the cross can transform us. Like Paul, we should protect this gospel without ever compromising it (Romans 1:16). When the gospel takes our lives, faith comes to our hearts and we believe that with God nothing is impossible. This same gospel changed Paul’s life. It can change Africa, the world! It is this same gospel that will bring revival! For Stephen, it is clear that the more we allow the gospel of the cross to change our lives the more we will see its power at work. It is God’s power that accomplishes this. There is only one message and it is the preaching of the cross! We cannot have two messages; as Paul says: Christ has sent me to preach the gospel. As he told the Corinthians, it is not a theology, but what God had done in his life. Today I am speaking to you about what the gospel has done in me, cries out Stephen with passion! It’s what the gospel has accomplished what you’ve been through that is the work of the cross.

The final evening meeting, Miki explained that another sign of revival is the spirit of grace. During these times, we will really need God's grace to face temptation and persecution. In 1 Cor. 10: 13, we see that it is upon the road of the cross that grace will be manifested in greater measure. The Old Covenant laid a natural foundation to remind God’s people to follow His laws; the New Covenant brings a spiritual foundation. The Old Testament is the book of law; the New Testament is a relationship of the heart with Christ in freedom. To live in the Spirit of grace, there needs to be a revelation that of the perfect law of liberty as described in James 1:25. The objective is the same as that of the Old Covenant - that man will walk in holiness before God. The New Covenant is a different way of bringing it about. The law of the Levitical priesthood was based on the sacrifice of animals, but the new priesthood of Melchizedek is based on the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the perfect Lamb, who brought His own blood to the Father’s throne. Jesus is not of human lineage, but of another order, the Alpha and the Omega, the Almighty, the Creator, the cornerstone! Miki reminded everyone that, We are people of liberty. The liberty of the Spirit will produce a people of the heart. Men and women will rise up with the heart of Jesus Christ to take care of God’s people and will seek to please him. He added, Law cannot produce men of the heart. That is why we cannot abuse grace by doing what we want. The law cannot free a sinner. In fact, Jesus made it clear that the Pharisees did not know how to deal with sin. There is room to repent and to make amends under the new covenant, whereas previously you would have been stoned! Therefore, true revival will be accompanied by grace and not legalism. Jesus gave His life for you. His blood was brought before the Father and He has the right to forgive, to repair your lives, to cleanse you, to put you in a place where you know you belong to God. Only the spirit of grace can bring the heart of God, concluded Miki.

CTMIs 7th International Conference continued in the same vein as the two previous years, where Revival was the main topic. Miki Hardy, Stephen Gachengo and Peter McKenzie truly blessed the 1600 people present every evening. Miki Hardy’s three messages focussed on the elements necessary for revival to occur: the Spirit of Faith; Spirit of Repentance; and Spirit of Grace.

The following evening, Miki expanded on another sign of revival: the spirit of repentance, which will also be closely tied to the preaching of the gospel of the cross. No revival is foreseeable without repentance in the house. Real repentance, according to God, as described in 2 Cor. 7, is accompanied by brokenness and sorrow, which produces holiness and righteousness. It then produces the fruits of mature Christianity. The first letter to the Corinthians brought Godly sorrow to their hearts as the cross confronted them. Miki added that, Just as repentance begins in the house, cleaning and purification also start here; nothing can happen unless there is true repentance! Everything that is not of God has to be removed. Sin, our attitudes and motivations, started being dealt with in our churches when we began to hear the message of the cross, the foundation! True repentance for a Christian is not saying sorry, just because it is written in the Bible. Nothing real is happening in the depths of someone’s heart who repents in this way and he continues falling into the same sins without ever being set free. We need to stop limiting the Holy Spirit by being content with simply being in line with the letter of the Word.

On the first evening, Miki outlined the essential conditions for revival to take place in the Church. According to Miki, Revival will only be possible with the true gospel of Jesus Christ and the preaching of the cross. Only churches founded on this gospel of the cross will experience revival - those who have refused false doctrines, emotional manipulation and who have not accepted a life according to worldly standards. Churches that rest on the sound doctrine of the true gospel produce men and women of the Spirit. These churches have built a spiritual platform for the spirit of faith, which is an expectation of the miraculous; a living faith in the hearts of the servants of God and His people.

In Psalms 46:10, we read: Be still, and know that I am God.

In other words: be expectant! With this spirit of faith we will experience more miracles, His deliverance the belief that with God, nothing is impossible (Luke 1:31-37). When this spirit takes hold of our hearts we will not bow down to, or compromise with, false doctrines.

We came to Mauritius with no idea what we would hear.

Pastor Roy Cherian: I had been praying for Africa for 14 years. When I shared this with one of my friends, he told me about the conference. We have 4 Christian television stations in India and all preach prosperity, so I was expecting to hear that here. But instead, I heard the real and pure doctrine of Christ and it has changed me dramatically. I am going back to share this in India. I want to hold a conference with CTMI in my district so my country can hear what I heard. Pastor Rajesh AG: I believe that Brother Miki must have received some of the revelation for the life of the New Covenant. We saw so much unity between the pastors and leaders here. I arrived here with my churches financial problems and persecutions weighing heavily upon me. The message I heard here was such a great relief. The preachers preached as if they knew my personal circumstances and brought me to see that God has a greater plan than I could conceive of. I saw that God is still working in me and that I still have much to learn. I also realised that, as a servant of God, I don’t want to be bogged down by small denominational issues. Rather, I want to be involved in a network. Seeing the life of the church here was wonderful. You can see God at work everywhere here, in ways that I can’t even begin to describe. Staying in the homes was so important: to see how Christians live together. I hope that my wife can come here one day. I also desire that the youth of Malawi could attend camps and be part of the CTMI young people’s program. We see that there is much to do and to invest in the youth, as they are the ones who will carry on serving the Lord in the days to come. As a family, we own a plot of land where we grow vegetables for our family to live on. While I was here, God said to me: You’ve received My revelation, but what of the land I gave you? He showed me a bigger vision; of a church hall that can hold 10,000 people, a vocational training centre, perhaps even a shopping centre. Basically a CTMI village! I was convicted and immediately went to see Miki and Audrey and surrendered the land for the work of the Lord through CTMI. Miki spoke of the signs of revival and I hope to see them in our country too. It’s exciting and I am going back with fire! I thank the Lord that, till I die, I will have received the honour of working with these churches and these special men of God, who are bringing the gospel to so many different countries.

This year we were honored to welcome 47 Pastors and Elders who work with CTMI to the International Conference. 3 Pastors from India, as well as 2 others from Cameroon and Malawi attended for the first time. It is always a time of strengthening and refreshing for leaders, where the gospel shakes and confronts men who are called of God to lead His people.

Cameroon - Pastor Joseph Boliong

I met the Lord at 16 and, for 7 years now, I have been pastor of a church in Yaound. It was through a sister that I first heard about CTMI, when they were preparing the conference in Douala last year. Finally, last October, I made the trip with 48 pastors from my region to attend the first CTMI National Apostolic Conference in my country. What an event! Stephen and Miki’s messages were hard to hear, as they clearly denounced, without knowing it, what was going on in the churches of Cameroon; all the false doctrines that are preached. We were confronted and encouraged. Shortly thereafter, a follow-up team came to my church with Jean Louis Gaillard from Chaville and Peter McKenzie from Ringwood. They worked with me in Yaound and in Kwallam, and we held meetings with pastors in the capital, which also allowed me to cement my commitment to CTMI. Jean-Claude and Jacqueline Lajeunesse arrived a few months later and we worked together with them in the church. They have helped me tremendously in my ministry, encouraging me greatly. After a few months, I was invited to the International Conference here. What a privilege, as it was my first overseas trip since I started serving the Lord! I saw His hand at work, as the plane I was to have taken initially, crashed a few minutes after takeoff! The Lord really protected me. My heart’s desire is that the Lord would allow us to live the gospel totally, as the Christians I met here do I’m going home refreshed and ready to organise the CTMI National Leaders Conference in November in Yaound with the help of the local churches. I truly believe it will be a great time for us! I truly thank the Lord that He has allowed me to discover the apostolic vision for His church.

Q & A with Miki Hardy

Question: You spoke at 4 meetings in all under the banner Signs of Revival. What were the points that you

emphasised?

Miki: Two years ago, we addressed the topic of revival and the message of the cross which will be the predominant message in the last days. Last year, I spoke of Revival and Sound Doctrine where I stressed the importance of the pure gospel without emotional manipulation, or deceptive, false teachings and doctrines. This year in the evenings, I shared about signs that would have to be evident for revival to take place. On the Sunday morning, I wanted to ensure that everyone had understood what it is to be a son or daughter in the house according to the spirit of the gospel. I ended with a drawing board, where I showed that, to be begotten in the gospel one needs to be sure that one’s foundation is Jesus Christ and Him crucified!

Q: Tell us a bit more about the three evening meetings

Miki: For me there are 3 dominant signs, which I called: The spirit of faith; the spirit of repentance; and the spirit of grace. Well, it is impossible to have revival without faith in the hearts of God’s people! During times of revival, a spirit of faith will be present and evident in their lives, manifested by miracles, signs and wonders, and the presence of the Lord, as seen in the book of Acts. Remember that nothing is impossible with God, and we must expect to experience the power of God. The spirit of repentance will be evidenced by true Christian repentance accompanied by a broken spirit, and a work of the Lord in our hearts and lives. Increasingly, sins that were hidden will be confessed and repented of, as a result of deep conviction. We will see people growing and lives being transformed. The Lord is building His church where His holiness, His presence and His glory will be present. I am very thrilled by this! As for the spirit of grace, this is essential for Christians who will face not only persecution and temptations, but also necessary tests and trials in their walk. It is on the road of the cross that grace will be manifested all the more powerfully; and it is this grace that will equip us for victory. We must grasp that the law of the Old Covenant is powerless to save and perfect us; as opposed to the perfect law of liberty of the New Covenant, which enables us to walk in faith and holiness before God. We are a free people called to serve God in freedom! The law of liberty has the power to bring us to be more and more like Jesus, with whom we have a relationship in freedom.

Q: Will this revival you speak of be for the universal Church, or will it only touch churches selectively?

Miki: It is obvious that not the whole Church of Jesus Christ is flowing with what the Spirit is doing. In the past, many churches and denominations closed their doors to what God wanted to restore. If we look at revival and accept that it cannot be separated from the message of the cross, from repentance, faith, and sound doctrine, it is certain that not every church will be involved. Those that are ready to accept the message of the cross will be like a shining light compared to those which do not carry the life of Christ. Sadly, they will in all likelihood miss out on this awesome move of God in the last days.

Q: Many Christians and church leaders reading this will say: but we believe in and practice prayer, faith, repentance, fasting, etc

Miki: Ah! That is the great danger facing the church today. We all believe in these things that we see in the Bible. However, if our lives are not laid on the true foundation of Christ, which is Christ and Him crucified, we will compromise in how we serve the Lord. Sound doctrine is no longer pure... diluted if you wish; and the results in our lives cannot be the same. It is vital for the church to be established and founded on the true doctrines of Christ. Today, there is much law and legalism in many churches. For example, we need to see how sin is dealt with in the church - not with law, but in the Spirit of truth, grace and love. So, it’s going to be amazing to see what the Lord will do in this area.

Q: How did the people receive the messages?

Miki: I believe many left greatly encouraged, not only by the preaching, but by what God has done in their lives. When you are growing, you know that what you have been through is not in vain and that there is more growth to come as we walk with the Lord. Christians are expectant that God will bring revival and, indeed, they came here praying, seeking and waiting for that revival!

2007 Year of Youth in training!

It all began at the International Youth Camp in Mauritius last December. Miki Hardy stated that he believed there were
young men and women, convicted by the Spirit, that were called to full time ministry, and the service of the church; that they knew this was the time to dedicate an entire year to come and be formed for God's service.

A few weeks later, Miki shared his vision for 2007 with all the churches... "after many years of draught, the Church is seeing a new generation of men and women of God rise up, the like of which has not been seen since the 80's. This year is the time for the Youth, to come to Bible studies; to take part in home visits; in evangelisation; to learn, and be trained in the Lord's service."

"We want to give you the best so that you may be ready to serve the Lord… there will be a complete program for all of you!”

And so, young people from the CTMI churches started to invade Eglise Chrétienne. They arrived from; Seychelles; La Réunion; South Africa; France; Rodrigues; Zimbabwe; Kenya; Botswana; UK; and the USA. In all, 100 youth, with more on the way... Setting aside their lives to follow where God is leading!

Dear friends and readers,

The whole CTMI team ‘pitched in’ in order to bring you this special “youth” edition. These are
exciting times; the Lord is raising up His workers! Revival is not too strong a word to describe this incredible move of the Spirit in restoring the hearts, lives, and families of so many.

We are so blessed to be able to host youth from all our Partner Churches. They have come to be trained for the Lord’s service. They take meetings in homes, lead the praise and worship, go on visits, evangelistic campaigns, and Bible courses, all under the caring eye of the elders, in preparation for what lies ahead for them. The witness of their faith and testimonies are so exciting that we have to share it with you.

Just to encourage you, and show that you don’t have to be young to serve the Lord, I recommend you take a look at our “Run for Funds” article. You’ll see that for those who love the Lord, all that is important is your attitude of heart and your readiness to respond!

Now is the time! THE VISION FOR L’EGLISE CHRETIENNE in 2007

The 8th International youth camp held in Mauritius last December, confirmed that
the call of God upon the lives of many youth was to serve the church. For them, Christianity was a calling that would take up their entire existence, rather than just something to be added to their lives.

In other respects, the Lord has told the church many things that are becoming a reality. I would like to share with you, as I have already done with the church, the plan of God for this year and for the years ahead.

My desire is for the church to unite as one behind this vision. Many things have been said and prophesied about us since 1983. Prophecies about myself and my wife, this nation, and this church have marked these past years.

My deepest conviction is that now is the time that the Lord has chosen for each one of us to take our place in the body. I want to encourage you to trust in what God has said, despite all obstacles, all constraints that may exist, or appear to face us.

The Gospel has made its way into hearts. If in your heart, you feel that you have been set apart by God, it is the time for you to take part in this vision.

We must awaken and step out of our slumber, to establish His kingdom on earth. Now is the time, the time to take action because God will bring the fire of His Spirit. I pray that the church in Mauritius would be a place where one can find life, healing, salvation, repentance; a place where one can feel the life of the Spirit. Many things must develop in the hearts of those who are set apart by God, and who carry His call in their hearts. We want to equip all of those who respond to this call, so that they may be ready to serve the Lord. This is a special year where brothers and sisters will open the door for them. A new generation will serve the Lord with all their hearts, and each one of us has a responsibility to help them.

There will be a programme set up for those who want to serve. All those in positions of responsibility will commit themselves to going out of their way for you, for we believe that we must be with the workers, in order for them to receive maximum investment. This year will be an abundant one for the ministry; young people will rise up to serve the Lord. In my heart, I’m ready to forgo holding a conference in order to invest the money in those who want to serve the Lord. We want to initiate them in the service of the Lord, to “throw them in at the deep-end”. There will be sister’s conferences and national meetings here in Mauritius, and also abroad for couples and women. Let us prepare ourselves to evangelise! We must say, “yes” to the voice of God and what He is asking of us.
